I have been watching anime for I think 5 years now so I have a lot to add which might take a while.
After I have added all my anime I will work on creating a better profile.

I see and I totally get the whole idea, but as much as it works for me too, I tend to think too much about certain things anyway ^ ^
A similar case would be looking for some funny comedy/ecchi if one's a bit off and would like to cheer themselves a little, yet watching some deeper stuff when someone has more doubts than usual and so on allows to get more into the atmosphere of the show and improves the whole experience.

Hah now I remember the way of dealing with the 'problem' of rating anime, suggested by a user who posts reviews here.
He attaches a note which says: 'I rate every anime '10', because I don't want to fiddle around with numbers'

I'm glad you can see that: ) Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to look down on some people, but there has to be a rational approach when it comes to taking rating seriously. Someone could say it doesn't matter anyway and, hah, well, he would be partially right, but many other,perceived as more important, things 'matter' in the same way. When so much comes to individual approach and shallow definitions, I think it should be taken seriously ; ) It's the same with those other mentioned things, but maybe it's not the best time for adding dull colors to our conversation.
Ahhh I'm done watching for today, I feel like I maybe overdid it a bit. As usual... ^ ^
Too bad they don't have some sort of private chat option on MAL; commenting on profiles probably goes like that- both are watching/reading, checking comments from time to time, which spoils the attention/atmosphere of the series' and once one goes back to reading, cause there is no new comment... a new comment appears^ ^ ehh
Do you usually go back straight to your own problems after you've finished watching/reading or some thoughts sometimes tend to come back to you and so on?

That's some fine answer to the age aspect ; ) I can say I also find watching some of the anime very relaxing and it seems I can't get enough of those hilarious everyday situations shown in an exaggerated way^ ^ (there goes the 'there's always a 'but' 'part xD) yet I wouldn't say those more complexed shows are a simple mean of entartainment for me and you surely underestand that very well ; ) About the series I'm watching now, I gotto admit it's for sure decent and I laughed pretty hard several times. One thing I kinda dislike is the fact there's a little too much of describing what we just experienced by the main character. It usually repeats some of the most important thoughts and so on, but... there could be a little less of it. I'm not a fan of being strongly led through the series. Apart from that I'm glad I picked it up.
But enough about me ; ) I hmm, maybe not the best word, but, APPROVE the fact your scoring varies. There is always a mattter of subjectivity etc, yet rating 80% of the series seen '10' would certainly not be a promising thing.
I'm thankful for the fact you made contact, I enjoy coversation either ; )

'Kimi ni Todoke' I was lucky to hear some nice things on MAL today and with all that Valentine's Day I felt like watching some romance anime ; ) I've been more into some deeper stuff lately and thought that is sth I could use.
Hah and yeah, anime drags one in xD It's hard to say 'enough', is the series well made...
I managed to extract pretty much useful and, well, hopeful thoughts from anime I've seen so far, but I think I may not be able to fully appreciate some anime now due to the fact I'm not a teenager anymore and some reflections I simply reached on my own before. Maybe it would've been better for me, had I started watching earlier. I'm not sure about how, just as you said, other aspects of my life would like it tho xD

I'm going back to watching but I will be refreshing the page from time to time(let's say, every 10 mins for some time). Hah I gotto admit it lookes kinda creepy on your recent activities at MAL, like you'd be nothing but watching anime and reading manga for the past few days xD I'm still a beginner in that department, so you'd have to look for some similarities between profiles or strike up with another topic tho... Focus on doing your thing and later... as I've said, it all depends on whether you like to comment sth and so on ; )

Hello : ) I'm, fairly new at MAL too, but as I complete another anime series' and you add some of those you've seen over those mentioned 5 years, more topics will umm appear. Feel free to start a discussion on any of the subjects, not only fav anime and so on.
