I am in my mid twenties. I finished university last summer (in UK) and now working full time back here in Saudi Arabia. And I have recently lost the 'single' status. First language is Arabic and speaks decent English, I guess.
It’s now 1 year since I joined MAL and nearly 4 years since I started watching anime. It all started when I was looking for more episode of Dragon Ball, since the arabic version showed only a few number of them. I landed on a bunch of 'cartoons', as I used to call them. I remember seeing random episode at first from Trigun, Hellsing, and Naruto and it was Naruto who got me into this wonderful world - though naruto is wonderful no more.
Lately, I don’t have much time to watch anime and read manga (I’m kind of new to manga but love it as much). But since this year looks like the last year as an active anime fan, I’ll try to find as much time and watch as many anime as I can. Initial target: finish 70% of plan-to-watch and on-hold animes, about 70 titles.
Aside from anime, I like sports, mainly football (soccer) and tennis (still a beginner) and play GO (as in Hikaru no GO) from time to time and currently ranked 11k in IGS. I also like American movies and TV series, but not yet ready to watch Prison Break :p (I just don’t have the time). Although not really proud of it but I’m a big fan of music (various genres).
I have big number of favorite animes, to name a few aside form what on the left:
Gintama
Hajime no Ippo
Now and then, here and there
Mononoke
Fantastic Children

MAL hasn't changed alot since I have been here and its popularity is increasing.
the new ippo looks nice but I have re-read the manga recently so right now I am not too crazy about him but I will get to him maybe around the time that you finally decide to watch Monster ^_^
you should start watching Cassherns Sins you will definitly like it, it is your type ^^

Hmm, true. We can only pray for them now. :(
As for 'Diary of Tortov Roddle', I think you can find all 6 episodes at boxtorrents.com. It would be easier, though, if you sign up as a member, as that would allow you to simply search for the file without having to browse through the huge list of anime up for downloads.
It is certainly not an anime to miss, especially if you're into unconventional fare. :)

It's rather hard for me to devote so much time to anime, what with chores and other things vying for my attention. The Gaza tragedy has been taking up a lot of my time as well, but I watch an episode or two every once in a while to de-stress, cuz I understand their pain and it makes me feel so helpless. :(
While you're at it, try 'Diary of Tortov Roddle'- eye-popping animation, surreal environment and characters. It totally transports you into another place. =)
Oh, and a (belated) happy new year. =D

You're right about that. Mononoke isn't for everyone, but those who do love it, obsess over it fiercely. I'm not kidding. There's a Mononoke fanclub here in MAL, and the fans are truly devoted.
Have you tried Casshern Sins? It's still airing, but it's my favorite one of the season. Old school character designs, plus a deeply philosophical/ moralistic story, makes this a real winner in my eyes. If it keeps up this way till the end, it might join my list of absolute favorites, and that's an honor few anime have experienced. :P
