Professional photographer, photojournalist, TV cameraman, translator, publishing designer. Watching anime since 1998, but earlier experiences date back to almost a decade before that. Haven't been to a movie theater as a spectator since November, 1990 (nope, didn't see Titanic or Avatar). I do not have a broadcast TV set, never owned a VHS or dedicated VCD/DVD/BD player when they were current, and I find games, particularly console ones, too complicated and boring.
I almost don't read manga, as I prefer text or video. In anime my interests are strongly inclined towards shounen/seinen, adventure, action, and detective with mandatory ingredients being a compelling plot, smooth visuals, unusual setting, and convincing, deep, and complex characters. That's what you usually find with MADHOUSE, MAPPA, Production I.G., J.C. Staff, and Studio GHIBLI anime, which in total form about a half of what I watched and did not forget to include in my list. I am quite picky about what I watch, hence relatively short list of titles for a guy who spent a significant part of his life watching anime, and that's why the majority of those titles are rated quite high.
