I love how in anime & manga you have these characters - particularly bishounen (but not restricted to) - who are impossibly perfect in every way. Like they understand feelings, regardless of their personal depth or lack of. In anime shots, they must always have their backs to the person they're speaking to when there's tension. Or only their mouth can be seen when they smile. And people fly far when they are kicked by someone they've angered.
I'm not knocking all this - on the contrary, I enjoy seeing these things. Because most anime & manga appreciate the subtleties of life, and explore depths more than most 300-level psychology courses (course I didn't make it past 101, so maybe I'm not the best judge of this ;D). And it gives characters a chance to be exaggerated as possible. It's fun, and I what I also love and respect about anime is that everyone genre is explored in it. It is by no means restricted to children. It's imagination in leaps and bounds, our innermost fantasies on paper or screen in front of us. I'm thankful that I got into anime at a young age and that it's stayed with me. Some people "grow out" of this fandom/hobby. I'm sure glad I haven't, and I don't believe I ever will :).
