Hajimemashite!
I started reading manga in my junior year of high school after I made friends with a transfer student from Japan. Well, actually she didn't introduce it to me, a friend of mine loaned me her set of Cardcaptor Sakura later on in the year. I was intrigued so I tried Rurouni Kenshin next; I was hooked.
I started studying Japanese in my junior year as well, just on my own. Circumstances worked that I never got to take an actual class in Japanese until fall semester in '10. I was majoring in physics, but after telling a friend how I taught myself to read and write Japanese she convinced me to major in Japanese; after all, how many people can make a living out of doing what they love? Now I'm aiming for a degree in International Relations with a minor in Japanese.
I'm looking to be one of those students who go over to Japan and teach English; if you know a good program, let me know. Please and thank you!
