Breathe Deeply...or X Saibou wa Fukaku Iki wo Suru, is a graphic novel written by Doton Yamaaki, the "Story telling team", husband and wife.
From the very first chapter you will be thrown into a manga which not only tells a multi-award winning story, but through-out, they question life vs death, belief vs science, as well as ethics vs progress. From a scientific point of view, the difference between life and death is not that great at all...
Breathe Deeply is a deceptive story, with twists through out. With combined elements of science, ethics, human rights, love and competition (between work colleagues) that make Breathe Deeply
interesting from start to finish.
The story focuses on some matters such as how far you can research before things start to become unethical. How far would you go to save somebody you love, if you had the power of life and death in your grasp?
The characters are unique and from various walks of life, and the Manga is drawn very well using lighting to help emphasize the characters feelings and atmosphere of the scenes and also portrays feelings of emptiness in certain parts remarkably well, this only adds to the depth of the story.
With all that said, Breathe Deeply does not only tell a story, but also questions life and death itself. I will definitely be looking out for more of Doton Yamaaki's work in the future. read more
