These two serialisations feature male otaku who openly prefer 2D girls than real ones. Despite this, they still catch the attention of many female schoolmates.

These series are very similar in originality. Let's create a short rom-com with an unusual/unexpected story: a mix between the harem cliche and time travel. But it won't be a harem, let alone a generical harem (furthermore, they don't have this tag). The result will be these series - they have the same formula.

Both of this revolve a guy trying to go into a loop to save a person they care about even tho in Steins;Gates involve time travel and other things and Boku to Kanojo no Koi Log is about a machine giving loops to the MC

What can I say? If you're familiar with the premise of Quantum Leap, then you'll get an idea as to the plot device that's used. But instead of just going back to the past to save the future, our intrepid hero gets to go back to high school (where the motto seems to be "milk does a body good") and basically deal with the minefield of high school girls.

In both of these serialisations, a female protagonist starts wanting to learn about being an otaku in an attempt to get closer to the guy she likes.
