Similar in the sense that both are more focused on psychological issues than super sexual ones (though CUT does have many graphic scenes). Both mangas include characters that are mentality scarred. However, I personally believe the uke's problems in IgsG are more aggravating. But, if you can get passed that, the manga's conclusion is truly magnificent (actually, both of them end pretty awesomely).

Note that IgsG is BL and Kare Kano is regular Shoujo, but both get really deeply into the characters and their psychological issues. The male lead of Kare Kano and the uke in IgsG have similar issues dealing with disassociation and acceptance their true selves, and both go through a process of growth and healing after meeting someone. These two manga really reminded me of each other.

Surprised nobody has made these recs yet. Their being BL is purely coincidental, bc in both manga, the focus is on two young boys who've been abused in their formative years, and how the resultant abuse damages their psyche (and their trust in people) permanently.

Ukes have traumatic pasts which continue to effect them. Uke in T-kS despises physical contact, and uke in IgsG has multiple personality disorder.

Both have beautiful beautiful art. They deal with boys in someone strict (In Riya's case) schools. Both of them have to do with musicians and and injuries that hinder their musical ability, as well as going away to study for music. Happy endings, and abusive/mean fathers included in both.

Both include ukes who were abused by their father/step-father. However, in IgsG, the uke was physically abused, while in KnA the uke was raped.

Both contain a character with dissociative identity disorder and someone who is trying to understand them.
