both Hanazamurai no sahara and dogs: prelude feel more like an original anime screenplay that knows where it wants to go from the first panel.

Ironically, they both have "stray dogs" in the name, and they also have a pretty similar setting and general feel and art style, with deep shadows, light tone-work and minimalist backgrounds. Both take place in a somewhat corrupt city mostly run by gangsters or mafia that gives the impression that it could be anywhere without really naming the city. The characters are mostly badasses fighting against the mafia, although Dogs (and it's continuation Dogs: Carnage And Bullets) features a group of slightly insane characters with superhuman skills who work together by chance, and Bungou resolves around an agency of "Armed Detectives" with special abilities who  read more

They are both set in a simliar environment, violent chaotic city. Both feature excellent art and fight scenes, although, Jackals is a little gorier. Both feature sexy guys weilding sick weapons. And... Haine=Nichol

They are both about human-genetic-experimentation-stuff...

Similiar dark settings and art. They just give you a similar feeling. And there are many good-looking guys in both. Both also have twisted plots an gory moments and, well, gunfights. Mordern settings is also a trait both share.
