Both play in Adult settings where two women try to fall for eachother. They show the fear of facing homophobia when outing yourself to the public and people close to you, hoping that you don't lose everything from it. You watch both couples go thought a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. It is shown that being lesbian or queer in general isn't bad but actually very beautiful.

Sometimes, the only person who can save a woman from her awful husband is her lesbian lover. Dramatic and devastating yuri manga about girls who want to escape from the miserable lives that they're stuck in, no matter what it takes; after all, a girl would do anything for the one that she loves. also, glasses girls! woo!

- drama between gay protagonist and seemingly "straight" secondary character - low key very similar artstyles - short manga

The art style of Kakeochi Girl reminds me of Shimanami Tasogare, with the surrealism and “glittery” aspect of it that makes you feel like you’re floating. They both deal with similar themes, like struggling with sexuality and pretending to be someone you’re not. Both have unrequited love, and are extremely beautiful. I definitely insist on reading Kakeochi Girl if you adore Shimanami Tasogare.

Yuri manga about two women who had some kind of relationship during high school meeting each other years later. One of them is about to get married to a man, while the other is a lesbian. After the meeting, both of them start seeing each other often, and the one who's getting married start to rethink their life choices, and question whether they really want to get married because they love their soon to be husband, or if it's just because it's "the right thing to do". Both manga touch on subjects such as homophobia, compulsory heterosexuality, and how society sees women who love women.  read more
