Manga: "Oshi no Ko"
Both mangas put focus upon the Idol industry, with in-depth perspectives upon the struggles that are faced daily. It further delves into the darker aspects, highlighting grotesque elements often covered by media. The leading Idols (In this case, Ai and Karen) are similar, they both flourish within the Idol industry at a young age, and are consequently followed by a tragedy, which expands to a bigger mystery. Both mangas aim to not only shine light upon the misdeeds that are the result of the idol community but to entirely showcase toxic issues (over-sexualization, assaults, etc) that are experienced often. Sayonara Miniskirt provides a similar storyline to  read more

Manga: Perfect Blue: Kanzen Hentai
They both take more realistic, dramatic takes on what it's like to be a Japanese idol. The main character is a famous idol who gets attacked by a crazy fan and does whatever it takes to disappear from them.
