Synopsis

Andou is a high schooler who possesses the ability to force others to vocalize his thoughts – an ability similar to ventriloquism. Inukai is young man shrouded in mystery who commands the vigilante group, Grass Hopper, which appeared in a city shaken by the downtown restoration program. This is a tale of courage, resolution… and confrontation; this is a depiction of the two boys’ encounter.

Overall i really enjoyed reading the manga since i loved its uniqueness and it wasn't like typical manga were the main character has a somewhat of an unbeatable ability or abilities. But the main thing that made me want to keep on reading this manga is the overall seriousness of the story.

The protagonists both fight for their own sense of justice with a special ability. Where one uses a notebook to create events to happen the other uses "ventriloquism" (he can make others speak in the manner he chooses). In both stories a rival appears who challenges the abilities of the protagonists and their sense of justice.
I would say Maoh is Code Geass without robots on roller-skates... if not for Geass' manga adaptation having removed the robots on roller-skates.

Supernatural powers exist. An attempt is made to take control of the masses by a gifted individual and his equally gifted comrades and, in-turn, gain a foothold in Japan, with the intent being to become a god-like figure. Mental duels and do-or-die situations are ten a penny.

The key difference between Geass and Maoh is that Maoh's lead is the one trying to stop his nemesis from gaining complete control over his town--he's not attempting to start a rebellion himself. He has to walk the tightrope between doing nothing as a bystander and risking his life to stop a man revered by others; a man only the lead knows the ugly, manipulative side of.

An important aspect of the two is the balance between good and evil; the thin line between right and wrong. Black is very much grey.
