| This isn't a short series, so ignore it if you want. But Death Note is the show that got me into anime, and I watched it with my little brother (who isn't an anime fan), and he absolutely loved it as well. |

| Definitly seconding Baccano! and Death Note. Both stay away from many japanese cliches, so it's easy to get into and enjoy them. And for movies, seconding Kara no Kyoukai and Satoshi Kon's movies. |
