I'm a fan of mecha and seek some anime that are more military/mecha based to view and decided this would be a good place to submit a request.

That said, the mecha and plot are more important than the age of the anime and the fanbase. Anyone else here enjoy Mecha Anime? My current faves are Muv Luv Total Eclipse, the UC Mobile Suit Gundam series, Blue Gender, Linebarrels of Iron, Full Metal Panic, Zoids, The Big O, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

VOTOMS is one of the most realistic mecha anime out there

Giant Robo the Animation: The Day the Earth Stood Still
is kinda good though a majority of the battles are between people on foot IIRC.

And Zegapain is a pretty smart mecha series. (Has somewhat bad fight scenes, but the plot is pretty good)

Fang of the Sun Dagram is kinda old and obscure, but is pretty smart with the way it shows politics.

Aura Battler Dunbine is a really old mecha series but is kinda good once you get in it and has some rage-inducing deaths in it.

Also going to recommend Vision of Escaflowne.

why because Valvrave has so many asspulls? i call them twist so watch it if you like a story that has lots of twist and besides anime is for entertainment it does not need to be philosophical all the time like Gargantia

Whatever other say watch Valvrave. Valvrave have a charm that another mecha anime doesn't have.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

Thirding Suisei no Gargantia, I rated it 10/10 which is rare nowadays.

(But Valvrave was really good too though, kind of Gundam mixed with Guilty Crown. Unfortunately it ends in a cliffhanger since the second season isn't out yet.)

10/10 for Suisei no Gargantia ?! Thats ridiculously high. Only the early episodes were great but later episodes was not that good (except the episode that reveal the true origin of the aliens).

Personally, I rated Suisei no Gargantia 7/10 and Valvrave 8/10. Both are good but none of them deserve 10/10
