Well, it seems no one can discuss what they loved most about this series without mentioning the biggest disappointment, too: the lack of closure. So I was curious to know what everyone's thoughts were on the "end" of the second season?

I admit, when I originally saw Tokyo Majin I knew nothing of the manga or videogame. So of course I was thoroughly unhappy. Honestly, I was more perturbed over the fact the final episodes were omake fillers when all I wanted was to see an end to the epic battle - it delivered such promise and pumped you up for an awesome fight sequence, and then stopped dead. That was more disappointing to me than the lack of a real finale. (><)

At first I was thinking there were plans for a third season, and it seemed true when I saw a blog comment on Facebook from one of the supposed people fansubbing it; they had said there was a planned final season, but the plug was pulled because the show was not popular and had no finances to continue. Given the fact Tokyo Majin is underappreciated and no one really has watched it, it didn't surprise me. I believed it.

However, after I purchased the manga the anime is based on, I think that was just a rumor.

So I believe what we see in Dai ni Maku is indeed the end. Which I guess is really unfair because the anime ends with many, many more questions surrounding the induvidual characters than the manga does, but hey. o_O

I am a little used to open-ended anime closings, so I can live with the speculations and mysteries. But of course that didn't stop me from formulating my own final season in my head - enough to write my own fanfiction! (Shameless plug.) XD

Has anybody heard anything more concrete concerning a third and final season for the anime? Any parting thoughts for the series?

I'm pretty convinced there will not be a third season, especially since the anime's official website, Majin.tv, has been a dead link for a few years now. -__- But I thought it was interesting how they introduced Chaos into the anime. They tried really hard to make him this heartless, cold-blooded little bastard (completely opposite to how he appears in the manga) only to give him a tragic, pathetic ending:

It was another one of those moments where I felt they were purposefully driving you to expect another season. Otherwise, why make us feel sorry for Ryuuji at all? Although, I wonder if his pining to find Tatsuma is a prelude to how we, the audience, are suppose to feel by the end of the anime...

There is a possibility that the creater died before they could finish it, and so it was published by someone else without a definite ending...? (Something I might research)

I did find the ending very disppointing, for when I watched the anime I was not used to cliff hangers. In fact it had to be the first dramatic ending I had witnessed.

The show brought up many great ideas to go off of and create a fantastic display of battles and losses that would have proven, to any Majin fan, a worthy ending. The anime makers tended to fail my expectations after grabbing my attention so much... and then tossing it down the drain. The anime is still a great show that I recommend, however, i'm still disappointed.

The finale battle... could I even really call it that? X3
Whoever said anything was possible, never tried slamming a revolving door.

Well, as a whole the established universe, story, comics, and general terms are shared under joint ownership, but the managing creator Shuuhou Imai (今井秋芳) is still alive. He's still blogging.

The original manga artist Asato Kina (喜名朝飛) has a website here, but it hasn't been updated since 2009. However, she does have Kenpuchou (and Gehouchou) completed. And of course the video game franchise will never have a definite ending because it has to stay alive to keep making games! ^^

However, I'm not sure who had the bright idea the anime should mimic the manga's ending and the concept of a franchise. I feel the anime should stand-alone and therefore have a conclusion. But then I'm used to it. Nearly all of my favorite titles have had open-ended endings, or at least lack of closure within character developments. For instance Weiß kreuz since that could be considered a franchise as well. It also happened to Berserk and Spiral since the anime finished while the manga were still being written. And the X/1999 film took liberties for the same reason I believe, too, right? =/

Like the video game! Sometimes I wish I were a gamer!! (^o~)

I think the last episode in the second season is the last episode. Maybe the author wish that kind of ending.
But, you see... First, I really enjoyed and had some high hopes to this anime, but...
The end is unacceptable for me..
Why? Because after Tatsuma disappear, all of his friends can start the live again. And most of them looks like they start to forgot him.
In the episode 10:
Ryuuzan Arai, Yukino Oribe, Hinano Oribe, and Doushin Narasaki are looked can live happily. Same goes for Komaki, Daigo, and Toono.
It's true they looked sad by disappearance of Tatsuma, but... I think it's different..Their sadness is just something that can abandoned.
How I put it? Hm... I mean, non of them that understand about Tatsuma's feeling. They just be grateful since Tokyo could be save, but... Non of them thinking about helping Tatsuma..

I think I will write some fanfiction... Because, I won't let my imagination being end by this ending ;p
