About hlwar
Of course I grew up watching stuff like Unico, Kimba the White Lion, and Voltron, but I started seriously watching anime in 1996 when the Sci-Fi Channel had their Saturday morning anime slot. I saw classics like Akira, and obscure titles like E.Y.E.S. of Mars. It wasn't until 1999 that I became a true fangirl, however, thanks to the Cartoon Network airing Gundam Wing. Despite my origins, I prefer subtitles (and seiyuu) rather than dubbed.

Dark, angst, and violent - that's how I like my anime. Character is key, and if there are people in any story that I identify with or thoroughly enjoy then I will forgive a faulty plot. Sometimes even the most awesome story ever told will fail in my eyes if I hate all the characters. I tend to prefer predominately male casts and don't mind shounen-ai implications. I consider myself old-school and still miss the days of cel-animation. I'm picky and eclectic, particularly like mecha, but will try watching just about anything.

Manga
My list is small and it will stay small. I have never really been interested in graphic novels or comic books. The only reason I will purchase or read a manga then is if I fall obsessively in love with either an anime, or a drama CD.

Hey you!

Happy New Year! What did you do to celebrate? Did you make any resolutions? I made two: lose some weight and watch more anime (I have some DVDs that are still in shrink wrap). Now that I'm out of a job, I *should* have some more time for myself. Of course, there's always housework and Jeff that gets in the way, but still...

What's been new? I got you a Xmas present and it arrived today. I will send it off tomorrow if I have a vehicle. Jeff went to start his truck this morning and nothing. So he started my car to jump start his, and when he hooked up the jumper cables, sparks started shooting everywhere. So now my car is without a battery! Thankfully, it's still under warranty, so I get a replacement for free. Jeff thinks his starter is shot. Gah, welcome to -10 weather!!!

Anywho, let me know what's going on. I always love hearing from you!

kara no kyoukai seems to be coming out soon. Hopefully that site that you rent anime from gets it as well.

ArcXIII | 08-27-12, 5:21 PM
Yeah, just be vigilant about keeping up on the release date of the dvds...that is if you're wanting to buy the collection since they sell like hotcakes haha.

And yes, Ruri is awesome (^_^)

ArcXIII | 08-23-12, 5:23 AM
It's no big deal. Hopefully you can get your hands on Kara no Kyoukai. It's definitely something you don't want to miss. =D

Hi Heather!

What's up? It's been a while since we've chatted, so I thought I would bug you for a minute. How are things? Still surviving the weather? Here, we are braving through all the smoke from the wildfires. They explained on the news tonite that Utah is the bowl that all the smoke is gathering into (from Nevada, California, Oregon, Arizona, Idaho). Hopefully, it will storm this week and drive most of it away. it would be nice because it's our county fair this week also, and I can't believe the people that come here! From overseas! Ridiculous! Our fair is good, but it's not anything to write home about...

Speaking of which, the Fine Arts coordinator of the fair asked that I judge the literature/poetry entries this year! W00T! This is exciting - I will be accepting the entries tomorrow, then judging them on Wednesday. This should be lots of fun!

This last Saturday was my 10 year high school reunion - it was good, better than I expected. The only bummer was that in the time we've been gone, they've remodeled the high school, and it looks more like a correctional facility. ;_; I miss the old setup.

Shoot, what else? My dad and I installed my new stereo in my car last night - it sounds so good!

Enough about me...what's new with you? How is your job? I told my manager that I will be quitting in December. It's getting to be so frustrating working there anymore and it's affecting my health and my sanity...what job doesn't do that? But I'd like to focus more on my writing and put my degree into action (and not end up wasting all that scholarship money). Plus, Jeff and I want to start a family and with both our schedules, it's just not going to work unless one of us quits.

Okay, NOW enough about me!!! Do you have any fancel commissions yet? If not, I think I may have a project lined up for ya! There's a scene from Tenjho Tenge that I'd really like to have done. Just let me know! Love ya and take care!

Shingetsutan Tsukihime was licensed under Geneon and then the rights were bought by Sentai Filmworks I believe. In North America it's just called Tsukihime: Lunar Legend.

I found some search results for Tsukihime using your RentAnime.com site.

As for Kara no Kyoukai. That was licensed by Aniplex of America. At one point it was released on Blu-ray, but sold out hella quickly--don't know how considering the exorbitant price tag (like 600 something dollars @_@). Supposedly, Aniplex is going to re-release another boxset in DVD format in Fall 2012--judging from their site. Yeah, I got got my hands on the "DVD-rips" through torrent (bitorrent) peer-to-peer sharing sites and file-hosting sites quite a while ago. You can take my route if you're desperate to see them right now, or you can wait for the DVD boxset later in the Fall season. I might end up buying the DVD boxset because it's THAT good.

Here's Aniplex site on Kara no Kyoukai if you're interested.

Nah, it's fine. I'm glad I can recommend such a gem to you. You might want to watch all the movies twice though if you do like it. The plot can get confusing because the movies tend to jump back and forth through time. I think you'll like Ryougi Shiki a lot. She apparently has a dual personality and the viewer gradually sees how she copes with her inherent killer nature. It's cool because she practically comprehends the psyche of all her victims (some being serial killers). She's definitely one of my favorite female leads.

Whenever you get around to the movies let me know. I'm eager to hear your input on the movies =)

The person that did the OST is Yuki Kajiura. She composes some amazing stuff. Whenever I've come across her stuff in shows I've seen and games I've played, she always composes some breath-taking music.

ArcXIII | 07-19-12, 4:45 PM
Yeah, I love the OSTs for all the movies--amazing. Here's a little sample:

If you like the movies, you might want to check this series as well. It's pretty short, but the main protagonist who is a male, as opposed to a female lead in kara no kyoukai, also has the "seeing eyes of death perception." I believe it was the same creator that was responsible for both series.

Hi!

How are you? What's new? How is your flower garden? Mine has taken off in this humid weather (my weeds anyway). I just finished spraying them, so hopefully they will start dying soon! I trimmed back my snapdragons and they are making a second appearance - I can't seem to keep any kind of color in my beds this time of year! I planted some balloon flower, rock soapwort, and more columbine, but so far, I got nothin'. ;)

Well, I went to Oklahoma this past weekend for a family reunion and all I can say is that I am so glad I'm home! Not only was it twice as hot and humid as where I live, but it was just a weird trip all around. To sum it up best, I will quote my half-brother: "I'm glad we drove over a thousand miles for a bar fight." 0_o When we got there, the alcohol started being consumed and my cousins got hammered. Well, they wanted my dad to drink, but because of his IBS, he can't hardly drink at all anymore. He had one beer. He and his cousins started playing some horseshoes and then all hell broke loose. His cousins accused him of kicking one of their dogs (which did NOT happen - my dad would never do that). He only said that if one of them turned on him, then he would. So his one cousin started punching him on the side of the face! Only he was so drunk, they came off more as brushings against his cheek. So my dad just walked away. Well, then they start getting in his face and spewing all sorts of vulgarities and whatnot, so we packed up and left. We were there less than 48 hours! LOL! Such a dumb trip. On the upside, we took a gorgeous drive thru Colorado and saw an extinct volcano in New Mexico. But ya, I'm just glad we are away from those hicks!

I am slowly trudging thru Linebarrels not because I don't like it, I just have been so busy and never really get a day to myself anymore. I try to watch it late at night, but watching an action anime with very low volume is not very fulfilling. I can't have the surround on because Jeff is in bed and it will keep him up, so nowadays I watch most of my shows with the subtitles on. How sad!

Let me know what is new! I am trying to find something for a fan cel (I saw this cool picture of Gokudo with his cape swirled around him on Y!J but now I can't find it!) I will keep looking!

Judging from what you're saying, I think you should give these movies a shot when you have time. A very morbid and grisly set of movies with very eccentric characters. I think these movies are right up your alley. The show has its flaws mind you, but it's pretty damn good in my humble opinion. I particularly like the main protagonist Shiki. She's fuckin' awesome.

JuniorMintKiss | 06-29-12, 1:29 PM
Hai!

Glad to see that you are braving this heat as well as you can - it's been pretty icky here too. By nine this morning, I had to stop weeding my flower beds cause the heat was too much. Things are really turning here! Jeff's family farms and they are already going to cut second crop hay, and the wheat is about done; usually it's not til the end of next month that they begin to worry about cutting it. 0_o. And it seems that all my flowers have been blooming early too. My rose bush is almost done. ;_; I need to get out and trim down all my salvia and columbine, and pray that they start blooming again. My cats are just so lethargic - I hope we get a break in the weather soon.

EEK! I can't wait to get my parcel! I ordered the rest of my Hetalia today, so I am eagerly awaiting all the goodies!

As far as vacationing goes, I haven't decided if I am going to Oklahoma or not. We have a family reunion there during the second week of July. I love to travel and all, but then I get really homesick. I don't know what to do...

The concert went better than I expected. I haven't watched the tape yet, so I can't say if we sounded good, but everyone said my solo was good, so ya... Well my special number was 'I Did and I Does and I Do' - we all dressed up like brides and had bouquets. My solo was the first verse in 'God Bless the U.S.A.' We also had some Broadway songs, 'Great Day' and 'For Good' from Wicked. There were some others, but I can't remember them all just now.

Gosh, thanks for the complement on my quirky collection! My co-worker called me at my work the other day. She was at a thrift store and asked if I wanted any records; she bought me a few classical ones. I thought it was so sweet of her to think of me on her day off. <3 I need to go to my dad's and steal his record washer; it's a pain cleaning them all by hand. Wow, that kinda blows about those records - they are kinda high maintenance when it comes to storage. Heat is the number one culprit, followed by dust. I can't believe the cats were chewing on them! Once, I left my Norton Shakespeare out and my cat chewed the dust jacket off. It broke my heart! And I love Meatloaf! Bat Out of Hell FTW!!! That's all my mom would play in the car. :D

Enough about me - what do you have planned for summer? Any vacationing for you - or maybe you'll have a staycation? Did you already have your week off? What did you do?

Wow, sorry about the lengthy reply - I need to go move the water and finish filling up the trailer so we can go to the dump. Now that's a hot date right there! Bwah hah hah!

Take care!
