| Is it me or is the animation for this series friggin awesome? Other aspects of the show take up alot of discussion, from the story to the characters, but most of the time I find myself appreciating the effort that went into animating this adaptation. There is so much attention to detail. There's no need to have rays of light sprinkled atop a bed cover as a character wakes up, but Honey and Clover does it anyway because it looks awesome. From background drawings of leaves on the ground or dirt on the wall, to more pronounced effects showing a voyage across a city via car lights and inverse-effect montages, there's a whole array of techniques on display. I guess its always down to budget, but the design and animation of Honey and Clover really gave this series that extra spark. I really have problems with a few aspects of the show, mainly the redundant voice over and the pedo design of Hagu, but at least it looked consistently gorgeous. |
