Imo, she's the most annoying character. She does nothing for most of the show but goof around and be a nuisance. She adds very little to the plot and if she was replaced with a random support character, 99% of the plot would remain unchanged. The only notable thing she adds to the plot is her relationship with Kousuke but any girl could have fulfilled that role.

99% of this show is comedy and there is no drama until right at the end with Misuzu. All of Tomo scenes are comedic and she serves as her own comedic relief. A dedicated comedic relief character is redundant.

As someone who's read the Manga as well as watched the Anime, I've never found her annoying. If anything, the Anime made me like her even more with that amazing VA. She's the second most fun character in the show after Misuzu.

It's typically a very subjective preference of not liking a comic relief character. These type of character are always hit or miss. And since they don't get intrinsically involved with the story finding them redundant is not unnatural.

Nevertheless, other than being comic relief she does contribute to the story indirectly. She also balances Misuzu's character. And the story never tried to be dramatically romantic nor it specifically focused on a character's overall development. So involving more characters for comedic purposes is not a bad idea.

Carol and Misuzu help this show so much. If I had to watch it SOLELY for Tomo having her period every few minutes and taking her anger out on Jun, without any police coming to arrest her, I would've dropped it after the first or second episode. Tomo is SO f'n annoying and Carol needs to be Jun's gf!

if there were ever such thing as an "underhated character" she'd be top of my list.
Her VA arguably has the most forced anime-voice and Carol's "serious arc" where you're supposed to be intimidated by her was cringe, single handedly ruined the show for me

Carol has a cute personality but I don’t like her that much that said Carol not being in the show would definitely not make it better induct it would be quite worse. Tomo Is somewhat quite annoying a lot if the times and Carol and the other girl helping out makes things escalate at-least a little bit. And no way would I be watching the show just for the sake of tomo I mean the MC is alright but her every 2 min lashing out mood swings are too much that need to be kept in check by her friends. (forgotten much abt the anime but this is what I think)

she is a cringe character. she does provide some comedic relief, but they could have made a better side character to provide comedic relief than her. she's one of the most underwhelming characters I've ever seen in anime. I never understood why anyone would actually like her character, although, I'm glad the author didn't make her as stupid as she seems at face value. it's her only somewhat redeeming point

Removing Misuzu or Carol would significantly hurt the series. And not that Tomo is bad by any means, but she's probably the weakest character

I don't care either way but did you know that Sally Akami, the voice actor for Carol, was both the Japanese AND English voice actor? Isn't that cool? I think that's one of the only times it's ever happened.

I agree 100%. And that scene with the ML where she made him uncomfortable in a bedroom made me dislike her a lot more.
