| Sadly while there are a lot of "horror" animes, most of them are just pure bloodbaths with no intent of spooking the viewer. A very few actually spooky ones I'm aware of: -Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (original or remake) - small countryside village action with a lot of grotesqe; -Ghost Hunt - title says it all; -Another - school + mystery, spiced with horror plot; Some good bloodbath types: -Hellsing Ultimate - literally humans turning in to red mess on your screen, includes vampires; -Shiki - mystery turning into vampire bloodbath as the story progresses; -Tokyo Ghoul - maneating monsters, and... coffe; -Shinsekai yori - another innocent-looking story that later on turns into ketchup splash on your screen; -Mirai Nikki - story about best GF ever; -Blood-C - human blending action included; An extra wildcard, a horror-comedy anime (this combo actually works): -Mieruko-chan |
