A kind of minor plot hole, more or less just a lack of attention to detail in dialogue. Tanjiro in the latter end of this film talks about how it's the smelliest demon of Kibutsuji blood, but he literally confronted the man the myth the legend himself ages before this encounter with the upper class demon???? Maybe I'm missing something

I think it is because Muzan can hide his smell and, since he is always composed and controlled doesn't let his bloodthirst out.

That doesn't happen to upper class demons, since they are not as capable and don't control themselves so much. They are still capable of suppressing it but not has much.

Edit: Sometimes in some Shounen the most agressive, bloodthristy, etc. isn't the highest number or strongest, but that makes up their character personality.

I think he meant it like aside from Muzan. It helps the audience understand how strong that demon is.

He probably just meant apart from muzan cause of course he would smell the most like himself

As far what i get that he's trying to say "Tanjiro met muzan before this upper moon still he said that this uppermoon has strong blood of kibutsuji" (as he can smell it and it was too strong) while he didn't said this regarding muzan, as muzan should have strongest smell (because afterall it's his blood).

When you ask for people to explain "plot holes" to you, when the anime isn't even fully finished yet, you're just asking to get spoiled. It ain't a plot hole.

What about tamayo, does she have a stronger smell because she’s a lot older and has been around muzan for hundreds of years

The higher rank a demon is the closer in power it is to muzan meaning it has more of his blood which makes their sense closer to his

Kibutsuji's blood concentration is stronger to uppermoon demons which is why Tanjiro described it as "his" blood. Because UMs are already under the spell of him and their cells are already manipulated by Muzan.

Its also worth noting that Tanjiro is after Muzan's blood so his naming sense to it is pretty reasonable.
