 Sailor Moon was pretty much my first anime as a child. I first watched it when I was visiting my grandmother in Korea at the age of 5. I'd watch it air on TV, and even though my Korean was pretty sucky, I loved sitting there, sweating my face off, eating a slice of cold watermelon, and watching Sailor Moon. Now that I think about it, during the 90s when there was barely anything superhero-related for young girls like me to enjoy and aspire to be, Sailor Moon was the answer. The Sailor Scouts were essentially female superheroes who had elemental super powers and fought evil monsters with the power of love and friendship. Watching Sailor Moon now has a 20-something year-old adult brings back a lot of the nostalgia and how awesome 90s mahou shoujo transformation scenes were. And although the story and monsters are really cheesy and cliché, i can't help but seriously appreciate the fun times I had as a kid, fighting evil invisible monsters as my own Sailor Scout. So thanks, Takeuchi Naoko, for making such a lovely series for us gals.
