![]() ~ Mayoiga ~ Synopsis "A shady bus tour of young men and women are headed to an elusive village called Nanakimura. A destination where people can partake in a utopian existence, free of the world's obstacles... or so goes the rumor. Heading deep into the mountains, the bus is carrying 30 different individuals, each harboring their own expectations and troubled hearts... What they had arrived to was an uninhabited village with lingering, faint scents of life and it was falling apart. Just what is the secret of Nanakimura?" _____________________________________________________________ Warning This thread might contain spoilers from the the most recent aired episode. Too many characters and I think just 12 episode might make this anime rush the story a little. Still found the first one enjoyable and I hope they develop it well. >~< |

So far it's ok , we have an interesting mystery ... but that's the easy part, hopefully they can make a good development and conclusion ^^ Demonarion said: First ep was ok but I have a feeling this will end up like Haruchika for me. Hopefully not =s |

So.. why does everyone needs to scream? why does everyone needs to lost their minds for no reason? >_< Welp.. anw.. seems like the guy floating on the river is dead. |

Still as annoying as the last episodes. Wtf is up with the girl that wants to execute everyone and tries to choke the bitchy protagonist? Can't wait to see the exciting story behind her mental issues. ¬¬ I bet they'll show some overly dramatic and ridiculous traumatic background for most of those irritating characters. The ones that don't get one will probably die before that. And some after, I hope. Hahaha This anime is gonna suck REALLY hard. ::) |

I unfortunately made the mistake of pressing the pictures tab on the MAL page for Mayoiga... The pictures released in chronological order seem like they spoil the series, look at them if you want haha. Other than that, the cast vexes me to no end. The best character is bear-kun obviously. :l |

Seriously, did (does?????) anyone expect Mayoiga to be something other than a joke? Expect it to be like Another and have some fun laughing at it. |

Yes I did, before it started airing I had decent hopes for the anime, unfortunately it seems like I was wrong about it for several reasons. Still I hope it gets better. |

Seems like everyone else is too shocked to say anything about the bizarre penguin ghost thing from the last episode.. This anime is soooo weird.. so many weird people with awful ideas and judgement... and why do they scream so much?! |

I loved that Another reference. Best comedy of the season so far. I've been told that the fog appearing in the village might be toxic, and that could be producing hallucinations. Not a bad theory, but I'm well past caring. |

This anime turned out to be so bad... but soooooooooooooo bad that I can't stop laughing, too nonsense! |

So the 'fog' / village place make people hallucinate with their past traumas ... well there's some messed up pasts... but it still pretty random =s I don't know if there's a way of this anime to redeem itself anymore =x |

Harus said: PhKay said: Easily the best anime of the year so far. What do i care about everybody elses opinions lol =O Of the year? what did you like so much about it? let me copy something here :p I´ve been looking forward to marathoning through this thing ever since i first read the synopsis back when the Spring Season chart came out. Took me some discipline to hold back on waching it airing but i´m glad i was able to hold myself back and the two sessions i´ve spent with this anime were totally worth it. It has so many elements just love and feel fascinated with...the secluded setting in this weird village plus it is obviously a mystery with horror elements, very similar in both those categories to Ghost Hound which i consider a masterpiece and the most underappreciated anime on MAL haha Mayoiga wasn´t as great as Ghost Hound but it was still a great watch for me overall and since i haven´t stumbled upon a 9 (let alone 10) with anime from 2016, it actually took the lead in my 2016 rankings for now even if i´m sure it will be overtaken at some point. However, let´s get to it. Since nothing that goes anyway near the mixture of setting and genre-mix i mentioned above can possibly be so bad that it does not draw me in, i´ll get to the biggest strength of this anime right away which is the characters. The cast is pretty big and many people complained about it. However, i think it was necessary to make all the distrust between basically all of them and the building of groups suspecting one another possible. Also, almost all of those characters are really well constructed. They have nice backstories making them join this tour and their actions make a lot of sense at all times considering the psychological influences their pasts had on them. Yeah a couple of them were probably overdone, especially Lovepon who is just plain crazy and it seemed weird to me that the rest actually still socialized with her lol, but 80% of those characters were a joy to follow. After 5 episodes, Mayoiga still was in with a chance of getting a 10, but then came Episode 6, the worst of them all. Not only did it take the tension away for most of the second half of the series by in my opinion telling us waaaay to soon who and what Nanaki actually is, but also the way Nanaki appears was just horribly done o.O. Not only was it depicted NOT scary, but it actually made me laugh at how ridiculous these "creatures" were put to screen. I was extremely disappointed in these strange, uninspired and just simply badly animated..."somethings". After this episode which had the potential to ruin everything, the show saved itself quite nicely by adding those extra supporting characters later on and slowly but surely revealing the main girls motives as well as some background information on the village AND also solving the last riddles for a few of the characters. The ending was kind of an understatement but i thought it was fitting. The hug between Lion and Nanko at the end was lovely as their growing friendship was one of the highlights of this anime for me. I really enjoyed seeing them together. So all in all it was good enough for me to give it an 8 and since it´s more up my alley than Joker Game, i´ll ranked it in Nr. 1 for now. There are better Mystery/Horrors out there for sure but...whatever. 2016 has not been a good year yet so stuff like Mayoiga is much appreciated :) |

I don't think they were that well constructed , in fact some of them were pretty one dimensional imo .. and we only saw a little bit of some characters background stories, many of them were there just to be extra characters... also , some of the background stories were just... 'meh' . About the huge group and the disturbs and discussions.. I don't know, that group was very weird.. they jump to random conclusions that normal people just wouldn't do... and their dialogues many times were pretty bad =/ I agree with you on the Nanaki thing , that was pretty poorly done too =p In the end this anime could've been interesting but they messed up big time... ofc that's just my opinion hehe. I think you gave the higher score I saw for this anime xD |
