Yay! Time for my awesome review ~

I was super curious to watch this anime because one of my kouhai's recommended to me not long ago, so the fact of it won made me really happy.
At first I thogutht the plot wouldn't be so good, because it's reminds a lot 50 first dates movie and I was, ok nothing new here.
But as soon as I started to watch I got hooked. I know for some people this anime maybe a little slow but for me it had a right pace.
Loved the picture, it reminded me a lot Usagi Drop but the style is better. Also the OST and ofc all the characters.
The good thing about a short anime with few characters in my opinion is because the story can focus on their relationships and developments. Something I saw a lot on it, specially with Kaori.

I need to say I fangirled a lot about Saki (poor Haru and Nora XD), she's the cutest thing I ever saw in my life and I'm totally in love with her. She added a lot to the story and there wasn't a moment of her on screen I wasn't dying with her cuteness. Best girl.<3

I scored with 9/10 because I really wished that could be more episodes.
Cya next time :3

Hmm I do not know if I'll be able to make a good review as the cutie above me.. but let's give it a try ~

I've read half of this manga long time a go, so I already knew what was coming when the show started ... or at least that's what I thought.
At first I was worried how they adapt the manga, since the manga has, in fact, several little stories in some chapters so it might no seem so 'fluid', but I was surprised because it was very well done ... what I mean is the anime had a good flow and it was really easy to watch it.

The best word to describe the show to me is "heartwarming," the characters are really cute, their interaction were also really cute .. and everything about the show helps the atmosphere even cuter =x
art and music style were also very good ... side characters were just as important as the main ones (side = Shougo and Saki) .. and sometimes even more interesting than the main xD
There lies one of my critiques.. we needed more screen time to the side couple> ~ <.
A second criticism would be the adaptation ... but from the standpoint of history .. the Hajime path is introduced and the drama introduced with him felt a bit rushed and was not developed well to me .. which leads me to think that anime should have more episodes ... maybe not 24 ... but maybe 16 ~ 18 ...

Well that's it .. ~
Saki chan is really cute
and shougo is a great friend

Got 3 episodes in and couldn't continue. I didn't enjoy the romance or the characters at all. Even with decent side characters I don't think I could find interest in this show no matter how much development they could give everyone.

I remember I liked the start of this show but then it all felt down hill when Kujou Hajime showed up.

Reminds me a lot of Koe no Katachi manga.

I liked it.

Art and OST were good. Not amazing, but good.

Story was fine. Not much to say.

Characters were good, overall.
Yuuki is generic nice guy protagonist. Not much to say about him.
Shougo was cool. Kinda reminded me of a less cool Houtarou.
Saki was cute.
Kaori was my favorite character, probably because she reminded me of Nagisa from Clannad.

Overall, a decent anime about the power of friendship. Yay.

8/10

So I'll start by saying what would of made the show a 10 out of 10 for me.
The brain is a very complex part of the human body that we still today do not know everything about.
Sigmund Freud was the first to scratch the surface.
Modern day we have neuroscience.

It would been really awesome if they went psychology route but you really can't expect a fluffy cute anime to dive into advance psychology. It is beyond most people's general knowledge.
I'm not going to penalize the show that much for that. It just would of been a big bonus.
The show just gives us that she was in accident and she suffered a brain injury that most likely affected the cerebellum. It is left up for your imagination.

When you look at the tags of the show.
There is no drama or romance tag. The selling point of the show is it's cuteness.
So what this means is that I'm not expecting romance from the show. It still makes you disappointed of what could of been but it should not irritate you because it is something you were conditioned for.

The main draw is it's cuteness.
The main draw of the show is Kaori Fujimiya.
My first impressions of her were that she was cold and kawaii and I loved her.
During episode 3 we saw a drastic change from her and at the time I felt that the change between cold and normal was too abrupt.

Thankfully the story did address this being that she acts emotionless so that people would avoid talking to.
This is something that I can relate to when I was going through my early years of my depression. I did the same thing. I was very emotionless walking through the hallways because i didn't want anyone to approach me.
I wanted to give off the illusion that I was unapproachable but when once someone actually starts talking to me a switch turns on and I'm my more friendly self.
So anyone who felt that it was unrealistic character change, I beg to differ.

The main plot of the show was Kaori Fujimiya writing in her diary to remember or for better words be informed of what was happening around her the last week.
This is not something that was made up for this anime. This is actually the same theory used to remember dreams.

Every night you will dream 4 times.
Will you remember all of them? No.
Do you sometimes remember one? Yes, and it is usually the last dream you were having.
I know you can remember countless times you've had a really cool dream and you do something like take a piss and poof the dream gone after that.
The dream has returned to your unconscious, the same unconscious that all of Kaori Fujimiya memories are trapped.

So by writing your dreams right when you wake up in the morning in a journal.
You will actually remember more of them.
Your able to tap into that unconscious like Kaori Fujimiya is tapping into hers slowly during the show.
Why she eventually feels naturally that it is Hase on Monday.

At this point I was thinking that this show could be an 8 out of 10.
Like I said, if it went the psychology route it would of been a potential 10 out of 10 at this point.
Then they did do something that irritated me with Kaori Fujimiya resetting after her reunion with Kayo. Pressing the reset button is one of my pet peeves. I find it lazy writing and it didn't lead to any pay-off.
The good thing about Kayo presents in the show was that we were able to piece together Kaori's mother's story with the explanation from Kayo on the day of her accident.
That was a nice touch.

Then of course it would of been nice if not just Kaori Fujimiya and Yuuki Hase became a couple but also Shougo Kiryuu and Saki Yamagishi as well.
What it really comes down to it, what is the reason for them to not?
There isn't a reason. It makes complete sense for them to all end up being couples at the end of show and none of them are.
So you are left disappointed but to circle back this whole long post to the beginning. I can't be irritated about it but I can't negate it either.

The result is this landing as an above average show (7 out of 10).
There was a lot of miss opportunities that could of made this show special.

Another super kawaii Slice of Life with super kawaii characters hehe
it´s one of the better ones too!

It´s one of those anime that is just perfect to relax to. Fujimiyas illness is a bit weird but...whatever lol

The art is really nice and fitting, the character interactions are cute and fun to watch. A little unnecessary drama was added to it during the ending when they introduced that new guy. They were never gonna leave it out of the anime of course as it´s a bigger part of the manga, or so i´ve heard.

I LOVED the scenes when Fujimiyas mother gets flirty with Yuki haha

Also, nobody should forget to watch the specials! Those are amazing!

It was cute.
I guess what I liked most about it was Kaori's growth through the series as she grows more open.
"I have blue eyes, blonde hair... uhhhh... gatling cannon..." My smile's fanbase... maybe...

Wew! Sorry for being late to the discussion. Weekends are my busy days.

Alright, time for my mini-review of Isshuukan Friends!

Theme: A week to remember.

Pros:
  • Straightforward presentation. Presents as much as it needs to without doing anything superficial and unnecessary.
  • Simple, but cute characters design-wise and personality-wise.
  • Lighthearted and calm. Never too funny nor too serious.
  • The cast is small, but every character has their own distinct personality, making them memorable and fun to watch.
  • Interesting character development by Kaori.
  • The story of the TV series is told in Hase's perspective. However, the specials are told in Kaori's perspective and also serve as recaps to each episode.
  • Good pacing and maintains its entertainment value very well.
  • Has little to no offensive content, and fan service is minimal.
  • Saki Yamagishi is dank as fuck.

Cons:
  • Unoriginal and predictable concept.
  • Protagonist's open-book personality can be a nuisance at times.
  • Hajime Kujou's presence is short lived, and the pacing to the solution of the problem was done rather quickly, making the said character's inclusion feel like a plot device.

Best Supporting Character: Shougo Kiryuu.

Lasting Impression:

Tarotist's Testimonial:
"Though you may already be familiar with its theme, Isshuukan Friends is a tranquil and lighthearted story that will present you with a refreshing experience of friendship and memories."

I'm late for the discussion again (seems to become a habit of mine :|), and I can't think of much new things to add to what has already been said...

I really liked the story and the characters, and I agree that the events around Kujou were a little abrupt and not that developed...
Sometime around episode 5 or so I started to find the characters' facial proportions (especially their noses) weird for no reason (they look completely "normal" for anime characters, after all), and while this feeling mostly went away again, that and the fact that the story seemed a little rushed kept me from giving it a 9 or 10. (I gave it an 8 for now.)

I didn't find it disappointing that the "couples" didn't end up as couples in the end, to be honest, though. Alright, I'm not that much of a fan of romance stories, but I feel it would have been a bit cheesy and unoriginal if they had. After all, in all stories I have read/heard/watched so far it's much rarer if the characters stay "just" friends, so I value those plots even more. ^^

I cri evrytim :'( I wish Kaori and Yuki could really get "together". It's really sad to see the person you care about losing memories about you on a weekly basis. Rated 9/10 for all the feels this anime gave me (y)
