The young boys and girls of the "Starpulse Generation" belonging to the six academies made their wishes with Shining Armaments in their hands, vying for supremacy—Amagiri Ayato is one of them. Ayato arrived at Rikka at the invitation of the Student Council President of the Seidoukan Academy, Claudia, and right after that he incurred the wrath of the "Petalblaze Witch" Julis, and ended up having to duel her. | Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Episode Final Thoughts To start off, the Opening and Ending songs are my favorite in their segments this season. So music wise the show is already starting off on a slight advantage. When watching a harem the biggest aspect is not the story, it is the girls. Sorry but that is the truth. Sasamiya and Claudia are pretty good. Sasamiya has the monotone girl-type that is too my liking with her big guns that she gets from her father. Hey, she needs to compensate somehow right? Then Claudia is hornier than Charlie Sheen giving STDs to all his partners. Julis-Alexia von Riessfelt overall is pretty average and Toudou is below average as I've never been a fan of her voice. So harem-wise it is sufficient. The main concept of the world is the battling schools that have been interesting. We have had a few become predominant into the story already. Dirk Eberwein and Ernesta Kuhne have played their roles in being suitable side characters for their represented schools. The main character Ayato Amagiri isn't anything special though. Might even degrade him down to being below-average for how much I enjoy all the other characters more than him XD. He has a 5-minute limiter on him, which makes it so he can't be in full power for too long because of his sister. Who he continues to try and search for but we haven't really gotten any further than the first episode. Ayato has been busy with the battling schools anyways so I'm not going to make that a negative yet. It wouldn't make sense if she just appeared out of nowhere. Lastly we were introduced to probably my favorite character in the show, Irene Urzaiz. She is basically a vampire thanks to her Lux and apparently doesn't know how to wear a shirt properly -.^. Her Lux was destroyed though in the battle against Ayato. So I'm not sure if that means she isn't a vampire anymore, which would suck. It is very sexy. I honestly think I talked myself into increasing the score XD. Gakusen has the luxury of being a split-core. I originally was going to keep it at a 7/10 and wait until the second season. But I just don't have many significant negatives like with One Punch Man. So I will boost the score up to a 8/10. Thanks to the collective work of the side characters, not the main characters. They need to work making me care more about Ayato and Julis in the second season. That is the only negative part of the show right now and it is important if the show wants to increase in score. |
