| I've discovered this manga after the annoncement of the anime adaptation.. So, at first look, the plot and the setting are nice. I mean, It's not in every mangas where militaries forces can handle fantasy stuffs without a miracle-chosen one or something like this and make allies with natives. So I was intrigued and I've continued.. But after about ten-tweenty chapters, something annoys me in this manga... Rori... This character has really hurt my opinion for this manga... When I see her the first time, I hoped so hard she's not a bloody girl archetype (psycho sexy-cute girl with blood on all of her body) and unfortunately she is... More I see her, more I wonder why people are still around her, orgasming when people die around her and acts like a nice character, especially with Youji (sometime she reminds me Yuno from Mirai Nikki)... But after the 22th chapter, I cannot continue the story with her around... I'm ok with dark, gore and sexy stuffs when It's done well (Berserk) but this chapter makes me litteraly hate her... I was like "Ok, I'm sure now....She's here for those "mature" moments." and after Youji takes her in the shower and she acts like a whiny punished kid?!And in the last chapter, she thinks about love?! How can I believe that from this lolita-dressed butcher? I know there is people who like her but I'm sorry but this character gives me the creeps and I wish someone stops her (once and for all). Plus I really don't like her style... So, that is. I had needed to express my deception for a manga I find interesting because of one character... |
| Well..well.. Someone just mention that Rori is the Devine Patron of all Yanderes And I think she really deserved it. If you cant stand yandere so you'll find she's annoying. Because dere side is quite the opposite of the sadistic side. It's just feels like you're eating something hot (lovely scene) right after you've ate frozen ice cream (dark killing scene). Personally I have no problem with her and take quite a liking to her personality |

In my opinion, Yandere is like eating a lot of sweet things and just after, you eat something digusting who make you puke. And after this unpleasant experience, even you still like sweet things, you've still this horrible taste of a mixt of digested sweet things, the disgusting thing you've eaten and vomit in your mouth who cut your appetite.. Most of Yanderes I've seen are just "dumbly" sadistic and not geniusly bad like Medusa from Soul Eater. It's lke comparing Harley Quinn (Yandere) and the Joker (Genius Villain). The only time I find this archetype enjoyable is when It's used for jokes and funny moments.. |

It is a case of your own personal tastes being different from those of the author and the majority of the audience, there is not much else that can be said about it because everyone has full right to like or dislike things according to their own tastes. Though I myself like Rory very much (in general I find most yandere characters interesting and hilarious at the same time) I sympathise with how you feel, I have the exact same reaction to Index from Toaru Majutsu no Index series - whenever she appears on the screen my enjoyment plummets down to sub-zero levels and the only thing I feel is intense irritation and hatred. Depending on how much you like the rest of the stuff that Gate has to offer you may try to skip past the scenes with Rory and just read the rest (if you feel like it you can even edit downloaded chapters deleting pages or panels that irritate you the most and which you find not necessary for the plot and then read the "cleaned" material). I did that with Index and somehow managed to enjoy the rest of both the series she polluted, maybe it will work for you as well. |

| I can somewhat understand. There's just something about Rori....I can't bring myself to particularly like her. I really like Lelei, Tuka, and Yao, but Rori just kind of annoys me at this point. |
