I think Sword Art Online III will come out near the end of 2015? or somewhere around 2016?

According to Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_Art_Online#Plot
There's still one more game left. They probably won't be leaving it out.

According to this. there's a possibilty of Season 3? (btw i didn't read all the posts in this threads so someone might have already posted this)

Even though it is the "last game," that arc itself is longer than all the previous arcs combined, and only now did we reach the halfway point. Season 3 is a definite possibility. We have enough content to release more seasons than Star Wars has movies.

I also cringe at that Wiki article, the writer didn't seem to know what he's talking about.

For SAO to reach all the content that the WN had, it will need at least 5 24eps seasons, and the LN might continue after the ending of the WN at least a bit so...

And yeah season 3 is very possible since the sells are pretty pretty good

I did a hasty translation of an interview with Tomohiko Itou on Jan. 3rd. At one point he talks very briefly about the possibility of a season 3.

My thoughts:

My impressions of this work are already the same as the characters in the work. About that, I’m going through with other plans right now.

What did he mean? O,o

thank you for translation, btw.

Thanks for the translations, looks like we got another Miyazaki wanna-be.

He probably means that his opinion of SAO is the same as his opinions on the characters, in which he didn't clarify what that is.

I had quite respect for this director, but he somehow fell before my eyes recently...
Trying to troll so badly, like Miyazaki, at least Miyazaki is sincere...
So he doesnt like what is he doin, or what? so why the hell did he wish to direct this show?! :?
Sad, really really sad. ;/

From the looks of it, he directed SAO with the mindset of getting the series over with already. Such a shame, the SAO anime always gets the short end of the stick.

Humm. I am not the type of viewer that gets too much into such things, however in reading your post, it confirms what I thought of the animation "talent' behind it: they think that they are too "good" for the story.

If they think that, it shows how petty and pathetic they really are.

Any ideas on who will direct SAO III if Itou doesn't?

Whoever the new director is, I hope the guy knows what he's doing. Or actually enjoys what he does. Otherwise it's a waste of A-1's time, the fan's time, the hater's time. and the entire staff's time. No wonder I felt GGO was so lackluster.

You have to admit that MR was adapted nicely, though. If you've read the LNs you'll know.

He better doesn't... :x
It's not because I'm SAO fan or something, but sorry I generally can't tolerate such arrogance, stupidity and making art just for commercial success or egoistic purposes. To do something, esp. artwork, what you do not like to do, it's bad. I mean It is REALLY freaking bad. It's not art anymore...
oh well, whatever.

I'm pretty sure it will be another A-1 director, because It's hard to believe they will let such a fat rabbit to flee from their clutches. ;)

SAO became a horrible adaption since episode 2 of season 1 when so many things were skipped and omitted. Episode 1 was tolerable since we can expect some loss of detail and monologues. All I can hope for is a remake.

If SAO continues to rake in the cash, that... might actually happen. You never know.

However, by the looks of what Itou said before Caliber and MR aired (how he, Reki and the producers sit together), A-1 already thinks that they did a "faithful" enough adaptation.
