Godpachi is Kenpachi? but he's not OP, he's on a level above OP. :3

But Godpachi lost off screen and he also lost to girls(they are ganging up on him though).
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

You're right. My bad. I shouldn't have labelled him with such a mortal term :P

Because it turns into a matter of - 'You can't defeat me! I'm the protagonist!'

I think what OP meant is "OP protagonist". I mean, we still have captain Aizen, don't we?

Maybe the problem is the characterization rather than 'ass-pull-ness'. Onii-sama is much more bearable because... look at him! Gentlemanly, suave and swag .Put the OP-ness on him, and you have a perfect & likeable Gary Stu. Even if you don't like him, you still can like him ironically.

How about Kirito? You know what? He is no different than that silver crow from Accel World. Gloomy teenage edgelord! His characterization is very close towards one of the 'bullied kids' who likes hearing Linkin Park song for whatever reason. Long story short: Too much negativity & No fun at all.

Long story short, I'm agree with:

It really depends on how its done to be honest. I like some OP characters and hate some as well.
Funny you should say that. Watching Mahouka is actually what made me realise everything that Kawahara did right with Kirito's characterisation.

You see, Kirito is ridiculously overpowered and has plenty of Gary Stu moments in the game. But when it comes to Kazuto, the actual person behind the character, he's portrayed as a normal human being who exhibits weakness, has very flawed ideals and actually reacts to things like normal people would in his situation.

Sure it's not much to boast about. But when it comes to Tatsuya he's always the one to win the battle, never even shows a hint of weakness and is always the smartest guy in the room and the voice of reason on every single occasion.

Kirito I can like ironically during his Gary Stu moments. Tatsuya is just boring. I much prefer to use him as an example of how creatively bankrupt anime can get.

lol, Kirito is barely OP in the first half of season (too many battles where he lost/was saved) one and still needs Kayaba to save him in the 2nd half.

Shiba Tatsuya is the worst OP main character I ever seen. He just perfect in everything he does.

Tatsuya is worse than Kirito.

But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I don't hate OP characters, it depends how they are done.

If it's a power where they can't possibly lose and they are the MC, then yes, I have no praise for such an arrangement. Subaru is a perfect example of this: this guy effectively has infinite redos of any scenario so his "handicap" of being dumb actually serves as an irritating and ugly slap from a stereotypical gary stu situation into the even more loathed anti-stu (a subtype of a gary stu) situation. More classic gary-stus come in the form of Tatsuya Shiba who just powers through everything with no expression on his face and the show is trying to get the viewers to take this seriously.

On the other hand, whereas Lelouch can geass everyone he meets from the start, the handicap is his own humanity - his morals, a superego within that tells him it's wrong. This makes for an interesting conflict between his resistance of that option and the ensuing consequentialist/deontological exchange between him and Suzaku.

Another interesting take is RahXephon's idea of "tuning" the world. The power itself is godhood but the user only gains access to it after a long journey into himself to understand and accept who he is and the world around him.

So, in conclusion, all depends on how this type of character is handled.
There's no inherent right or wrong in this universe, but when we think with emotions rather than logic, we make things so.

I hate characters that aren't well written, and op characters tend to be poorly written. Meruem is an op character, but he is incredibly well written so he's a great character.
