| Do you guys ever get tired of seeing people use the words "child" or "immature" as an insult on the internet these days? Is the person bad at video games? Well, he's a kid. Is the person being rude? Must be a child. Does the person have bad taste? Definitely an immature child. Real maturity comes from knowing how to accept that sometimes other people have shitty moments or make mistakes. When someone rolls out the "LOL LOOK AT THIS STUPID KID, GO HOME KID" bullshit, I instantly imagine that they have some sort of IRL situation that makes them feel childish on a daily basis. As a person, I tend to take other people as they are, and judge them accordingly. As a 26 year old gamer/internet nobody I have spent years of my life unwillingly interacting with younger people on games, forums and teamspeak. The one thing I truly learned was that I have found just as many 45 year old ex marines who act like obnoxious morons as I have seen immature 14 year olds. Anyone have any input on this nonsense? | It's pretty silly. I think you'd have to be insecure to look down on other people by calling them children, considering that it would probably make you feel inherently superior to them. Sure, I suppose that applies to most insults, but since "child" as an insult is more rare, I see a stronger implication behind it. But perhaps I'm over thinking it. It doesn't bother me that much, but it just seems hypocritical. Plus I have a dislike for adults who think all children are idiots. | If you're offended by being called a child you probably need to grow up in the first place. If someone calls you that you probably either hurt their emotion bones or they're just insecure about their own pleb tastes. Do I get tired of seeing people call other people children everywhere? Yes. |
