| Honestly, I watched it in release order, and it made about as much sense as it was ever going to, so I suggest you just do that. Although, maybe skip the first episode and come back to it after finishing the second season. |

The only downside to watching it this way is that you end the series on a crappyish note. But Haruhi s1 and 2 are pretty crappy anyway so no loss there |

The light novels I've read so far seem to be in chronological order, so it's not like the author meant for the series to be viewed in the order it was broadcasted in.
