It's the most feasible explanation, yet there is also a possibility that all of the talk about his past etc. lead to his memories returning on their own. |

| This is an old question, but I just finished wathching the movies and I think the 2nd memory erase was weaker. The 3rd one (through the phone at the end) was not even slightly effective, so I guess the more you use it, the less effective it becomes, maybe? I guess he could gain some memories back when he heard all the info of his past. |
