The first novel was officially released this week and I was just notified of my copies shipment from Amazon and I should get it by Friday.

Anyone else get it? I've also already pre-ordered the next two volumes as well.

I already bought the novels in its original Japanese, I don't feel it's worth it to rebuy everything just because it's in English.

If I could read Japanese I would have done the same haha. However I really enjoyed the translations by places like BT so I wanted to see how the "official" versions compared. Plus I just want to show a bit support to the series because I enjoyed reading them so much.

Now I just have to wait another 3 months for the next volume :P.

When you do receive the official translations, can you tell me how they compare to the Baka-Tsuki version? I'm pretty curious to know.

Who is the translator for the Yen Press release of Sword Art Online? I tried searching online, but can't find a name anywhere.
Should be listed in the book, on one of the first few pages.

I'll let you know when I get home. I've been busy with school stuff among other things so I haven't had a chance to even read it yet. That and I'm also dead into the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei light novel series so I won't start the re-reading the SAO novel (with the "official" translation of course) until after I'm done.

However, I'll be more than happy to tell you who translated it later on today!

According to the novel, the translator is Stephen Paul.

Wow, Stephen Paul is translating this? Without even reading a page I can tell that the translation will be exceptional. If anyone isn't privy to this guy, he's one of the top tier translators back in the scanlation days (ex. Monster, Beck, One Piece, etc.). So that has gotten me interested in picking this up since I did enjoy Baka-Tsuki's version.

It's due for August.

Well I bought my vol. 1 and have yet to read it (going to start and finish something else I had planned before), but I did read some passages and I was getting pretty excited haha. I don't know much about how translating is done and licensing, but I do really like Yen Press and a manga moderator that has a high opinion of the translator sounds promising.

A few cliche lines, but it's a solid translation
