I don't even see much gore here, not even animation, mostly black/white screen. If you like series to be dark and brutal better watch Another or sth.

Disagree with you all, episode 69 is the highlight.

Wait for the BD's, everything is blacked / whited out while it's airing

If that's what interests you, then watch a good old slasher flick. Pupa doesn't even deliver in the gore department; even with the censors removed I doubt it'll be that gory.

Ummm because it terrible. There is nothing to like about it. It doesn't matter if it isn't actually thriller/scary. It's directed terribly, the acting is terrible, the script is terrible, the pacing is terrible, the bgm is terrible. The only thing I can maybe approve of is the water color art.

This is munching on onii-chan. Dat about it.

Woah man. Pupa may be shit but the bgm is pretty dope.
I also really like the art style.

It wasn't good, but it wasn't so bad either. I mean, I enjoyed it. There are so many worst animes out there!

Disagree. Episode 7 was the highlight.

You are free to disagree, but episode 6 made me laugh throughout those 3 minutes and that makes it my favourite. The superb script, the VA's delivery of poignant lines, music that beautifuly enhanced the scene, camerawork and pointlessness of it all all will be hard to replicate. Not impossible, though, as I have high hopes for the remainder of the series, and should Deen deliver, we still have plenty to look forward to.

Burn!

I disagree. If these things are the things that people find wrong with the show, I can only say that people just don't understand the show. The direction is actually the most interesting part. It's full of symbolism that is probably lost on the people who tend to watch this kind of stuff anyway. It jumps from event to event without warning? I don't see what's wrong with that. The show never claimed to want to tell a single story. The way I see it, Pupa shows a collection of events in the lives of our protagonists. Nothing more needs to be said about each event. I don't understand people's need for things to be explained to them.

The pacing? It's pretty much perfect. Would you liked to have seen episode 6 stretched out? It's weird and disgusting enough to make you feel discomfort, but it's over fast enough before it gets ridiculous. The script does it's job fine. Complaining about BGM is just nitpicking at this point. It was hardly bad, just not good.

I watched Pupa because I wanted to see how bad a show could be. I was severely disappointed. The show is far from "good", but in terms of badness? A lot of the mainstream shit is a lot worse.

I thought it was cool until episode 6 and 9. I think it's just stupid now, and it's not very creative or enjoyable at all for me.

Except that the manga was told in a linear, single story. The anime factually skipped a ton of stuff that would have made the series a lot easier to understand if they were put in.

I do think that Pupa has some things that can be interpreted as symbolism, but the way the episodes played out lead me to believe otherwise. Taking into consideration it's length and the scenes from the manga it decided to adapt, I can't see Pupa as anything but an extended commercial for it's source material that is advertising softcore guro incest. There is a possibility that the people who wrote the script for this thing intended it the way you interpreted it, but I find it to be very unlikely because of the reasons I mentioned above.

I enjoyed it honestly.
Yet I didn't think it was well, good. Rather it was so bad it was good. It was entertaining. It was filled with WTF. And the best part was that I didn't have to spend hours on it.
