well its all about the execution as you said, Guilty Crown suffered from a bad execution, for example for me the ending of Guilty Crown can be satisfying if it has 2 more episodes and in that 2 more episodes the action is a lot longer and more well designed
the reason i like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann so much (as well as Black Rock Shooter TV now too) is because it has some exciting final action scenes until the final dialogues are shown up

and also on another forum a poster said Guilty Crown could have been better without being everything anime, and i agree it has a lot of fillers to me like the beach episode, Guilty Crown could have remove all those icing on the cake or spices and just focus on better telling and animating the main parts of the story

although i admit the first 6 episodes of Guilty Crown are darn awesome to me, its like im watching a very good action movie

P.S. never the less its not really a trainwreck like the haters are saying its still a good show and not really the worse show

Guilty Crown reminds me more of Code Geass to be honest.

Couldn't agree more. Episode 15 was really a turning point in the anime for me. It went from being an alright anime to fucking awesome. Then towards the end it stumbled to the finish line, which is really disappointing for me because I really thought it had the potential to be in my top 10 favorite animes ever but I guess not.

I have to agree with you both, 1-6 was just awesome in one way or another, and got me hooked like no other show I ever laid eyes upon.

And you're right, this show did, even with all of its flaws have the potential to be pretty friggin epic, but I.G. shot themselves in the face when they ended it the way they did; that is just a terrible way to end a series and there is no excuse for it other than the producers wanting the fans to feel terrible in the end.

i do not think Guilty Crown will end soon though, a creator of the series said on twitter yesterday (the source is on facebook fan page of guilty crown) to pay attention to the last episode more, and that in an preseason interview (ANN has that interview) they say this show is 2 season and also back on that pay attention to this last episode, Gai said Da'ath will not allow Mana to die, if Mana get killed they will just revived her again and again, and it never shown too how Gai has been revived, so this might be what the twitter post is pointing out, a hint for another season

lol you reminded me of the 4chan comments

4chan 01 - why Shu got blind? because his eyes are only meant for Inori
4chan 02 - Shu is the best loser of them all, lost his parents/sister/best friend/lover and as well as his arms and now eyes and in next season he will lose more

Dude how I so, so, soooo hope you're right. Just hearing news about another season makes me feel better - I don't care what people say I liked this show and it kills me how they ended it.

- Thinking back on it you make a good point, Daath really is an ever-existing problem, especially if they keep bringing Mana back, but that just gives a chance at Inori coming back, which I am in dire hopes for, or at least, a chance for Shu to pass on and be with her again.

Also - Lol at the 4chan comment - if you see the similarity then damn, the old 4channer in me isn't dead yet :P

You know what... as much as you and I have debated this series, I have to agree with you right now. My rating of this show dropped the moment 22 ended.

I could deal with all the 'inconsistencies' people kept pointing out; I just enjoyed the show for what it was, and really came to like it, it just happened to be a show that really appealed to me. But then 22 came and went, and I'm left here thinking, "What the fuck just happened....?"

I have to say yeah, this show tried to be epic, especially in the end where they tried getting the most 'emotional' reaction with Shu surviving and being driven from the crystal like he was, but the writers just flat out failed. Unless there is a good reason given later, my rating for this show will remain a generous 4/10 due to that absolute abortion of an ending.

TTGL was supposed to be a homage to all those old shows, but the fan base doesn't know that. For starters, see Zambot.

Anyway, both shows ripped off Dune Messiah's ending.

for starters i never said rip off, like i've said before

the fact is there actually not a lot of original pieces out there, simply because with so many other stories, there's bound to be ones that's similar. it's like saying everyone's unique, fact remains that there will be people who look similar.

TTGL made it to the top because of execution, not completely originality.

as a matter of fact, industries don't often challenge "originality" because of the risk it takes. it's much easier to alter something a bit and not take the risk of failing utterly yet seem slightly original. there's few examples where originality has prevailed, but those days are almost long gone, everything can be compared to anything else now.
