If you decided to join the club you've no doubt got some kind of reason. How do you feel about all those ecchi clubs out there? Do you hate them with a passion? ...Maybe you pity them? No? Indifferent? That's fine, too.

...Care to share your point of view with the club?

I've never bothered looking at the ecchi clubs, so they haven't bothered me.
I joined because it sounds like a good club. I am pretty sick of fanservice in anime, especially when good stories are ruined by an abundance of panty-shots and boob-jiggles. And overflowing bloody noses...
The occasional joke, maybe, but I find it hard to continue with series that are more lust than romance and serve only to titilate the fantasies of pubescent boys.
That is pretty much why I haven't finished watching the anime of Love Hina. I had enough of the manga's excessive nakedness and 'accidental' groping.

I may be a little hypocritical, but I do like my bishies. Though not in the same league, it is nice to see bishounens with their shiny hair and perfectly formed chests. Though girls don't get half as much fanservice fun as the boys recieve. I mean, they get to see it all....
But still, I'd cringe and be upset if they did make bishies as exhibitionist as their female equivilant.

similar to what cabbit-chan said, ecchi ruins my anime. and characters.
when my favorite characters turn into perverts or have ecchi moments it annoys me.. or if my favorite anime has ecchi moments. so i try to ignore it cause i know its just for the "jokes", but i cant, cause its still a part of the anime T_T. and yeah sometimes the ecchi is part of the plot.. and its even more annoying- cant the author think about something that is not ecchi to make the plot move in the same way? yes they can.. bet they dont want.. cause ecchi is just for "fun"..
besides , ecchi jokes are not funny. it looks extremely stupid- yeah.. "accidental groping"...? it doesnt even look like its an accident and it happens too much. those "jokes" are not to make people laugh, but to um.. irritate them.. (i dont know how to say it english! but yeah whatever, irritate. xD)

This club is totally for me...

To me, all that fanservice shit just reflects larger-scale societial problem known as the objectification of women. I actually know some guys who act in real life like the stereotypical males in ecchi anime and probably would want to live in a world where all females wore mini skirts, and they are probably the most annoying and despicable kind of people in existence. I don't have anything against those who just watch silently hentai at home, nor hentai or normal porn itself, for they are completely their own genre which you don't have to be associated to if you don't like it.

But when a would-be-good anime is ruined with too much out-of-the-blue fanservice, it just reminds me of how sick some peoples' minds out there are. Well-made anime has a very important escapist function to me, and fanservice pretty much makes that impossible.

I'm a fan of shounen action/adventure stuff which undoubtedly has much more fanservice than many other types of anime, so my hate for it is probably amplified by watching so much of that, and also when I like about everything else in the series, the annoyingness of ecchi just stands out very strongly.

I'm so glad I found this club. I was starting to think I'm the only anime fan in the world who -doesn't- appreciate ecchi and fanservice.

Seriously, what's the point of it when you're trying to tell a story?
Even in the Romance gender, is it really necessary to resort to in-your-face cleavage, up-close panty shots and, as Y-elf said, "accidental groping" which is everything else but accidental and in real life could get the guy sued for sexual harassment?

What makes me even more furious about it in how in recent years shameless fanservice is increasing in a scary way. Ecchi used to be present here and there mostly in Action titles and Comedy. These days it's a major gender on it's own, often disguised as highschool romantic comedies (Because we all know college is for nerds; if you wanna get some action, highschool is the place to be *rolleyes*). I get queasy everytime the list of shows for a new season is released. I mean, FFS, there are shows that are ENTIRELY about fanservice. Why not just label them as hentai and get it over with?
I have absolutely nothing against those things when they're in the right place. Hell, I've seen Hentai with more plot than these new Ecchi shows.

To prove my point, lets take a took at this current Winter season, shall we?

* Chu-Bra!! - Middle school (We're talking 13!! at most) girls who create an underwear club to promote black lacy panties

* Ladies versus Butlers! - Probably one of the worst Harem titles out there. This one has everything: maids, lolis and amazingly realistic scenes where girls trip, fall and land coochie-first on a guy's face...which they proceed to rub with said coochie.

* Omamori Himari - Ecchi Harem with a cat-girl...yup, that's it.

* Seikon no Qwaser: "(...)and draws his power from breast milk." - I think that's all that needs to be said here.

I thought most anime had a target audience of teens but this kind of show is obviously aimed at 40 year old virgins who live in their mom's basement and collect PVC statues of mostly naked anime girls because that's the closest they'll ever get to a real woman.

With that said, I can ignore a little bit of fanservice in my Shounen. Using a very popular series, one of the best examples would probably be when Naruto uses the Sexy Jutsu -> it rarely happens and even when it does, it doesn't last more than a few seconds. It's probably entertaining to those who like it but it's not enough for anti-fanservice fans to rage.
But shows like the ones I mentioned above and so many others just really don't serve any purpose other than making sad and deprived individuals happy. I'll never understand how and why this kind of anime is given the green light.

-End rant-
