After I finished the anime I went to see the manga and I was looking through one of the discussion and saw the ending which put me off it.

Same. I can’t recall another anime+manga combination that did that before

Understandable, even though I'm completely disregarding the existence of the manga, instead.

Too many promising manga have terrible endings, so I got used to enjoy the ride as long as it's worth it.

On the opposite spectrum, I like the anime more now, knowing how the manga unfolds.

This original anime has long been a masterpiece in my heart. The manga is a hacked adaptation from this source material.

I haven’t read it, I was thinking that I would watch this until I remembered sydsnap mentioning it once. Is this the manga with… ehhem* THAT ending? If so yes, I one hundred percent sympathize with you and I will not be watching the anime.

Not that i mind that kind of ending but i picked this series because my mind has been in gutter lately so needed something light-hearted so this anime insta 10 for me but after all that wholesomeness if they trynna feed us the incest nobody buys that, that is unless you go in expecting incest and see the series with that intention, but mostly people see this series as familiar love not some romance drama(atleast anime but manga wanted that route sigh), if author needed incest she should've just wrote different series or side story or something like that, but author clearly wanted some taboo shit going hard so not that i dislike it, but here imma be just happy with considering anime and manga being two whole different things

Never read the manga, although I'm aware of what happens. I enjoyed the anime and I don't let that affect me since I'm pretending the manga doesn't exist lol

Yeah the manga went insane after the time skip to high school, best to not even acknowledge it if you enjoyed the Anime’s heartwarming story.

Why would the manga having a weird ending ruin the anime, a completely separate entity? Those chapters weren't even adapted why would it bother you so much?

you guys are like the dumb star wars fans who claim the existence of the prequels or sequels somehow ruin the original trilogy.

I'm w/ Zytoep in the 'separate entity' mindset.

I consider the anime and manga to be separate from each-other so I still enjoy the anime and get to speculate how lovely everyone's future might be.

Of course, I'm probably just coping like everyone else in this topic since the story turns into utter trash, but at least I can still enjoy it. Use your headcanon, young padawan.

Well, just watch Usagi, the anime, and Drop the manga before the end.

In fact i will assume that both father and daughter died in a car accident soon after the last episode.

I watched the anime first and then the manga after a while. I enjoyed both. Since then I've rewatched the anime too. The manga ending doesn't ruin the sweetness of the anime. At least, not for me. I would've loved to see the manga ending animated too. Fiction is, after all, just fiction.

I am happy it didnt animate the manga ending, since it would have ruined such a heartwarming show.

It's not that the manga ending is bad.

It's just that it makes everything that happened in the first half completely shallow and meaningless. If it were a story about that from the beginning i would've enjoyed it. But initially they make it seem so wholesome and feel good but towards the end it just gets uncomfortable in many ways.

But gotta give it to them, they did justice to their josei tag after all you couldn't get more josei than that ending right there in last chapter of the manga.

Not trying to protect the manga here or anything because i was going for a Yukari X Daikichi ending but my dreams were shattered. :(

But they did do justice to their josei tags, this is what most josei anime are about right?

I watched this when I was in highschool and didn't know the manga's ending, then I learned how it ended recently (now an adult) my skin crawled because high school me is getting groomed. Hopefully they won't animate that. It's just gonna be a separate story.

I get why people feel this way but as much as author intent matters. The story of the anime versus what happens after the anime. Do feel wholly seperate entirely. They almost feel disjointed purposely. And maybe that's what the mangaka was sincerely going for. Personally its not for me but hey it might be for someone. And lets be real. The anime enhances everything about the manga so not sure why anyone would want to read it as an alternative.

I heard about what happens in the manga so haven't touched it, came up with my own end. Daikichi ending up with the nice mom is the obvious choice instead of... that. If the author wanted to be edgy so bad could have had Rin marry Kouki as well, a little Domestic Girlfriend before Domestic Girlfriend.

Wait, isn’t she only his half-aunt? That’s hardly blood related.
That’s only 871 centimorgans thus 11.71% on average.

Furthermore IRL, incest is legal in Japan as it is in many countries around the world.
Where I live it is illegal between full uncles aunts nieces and nephews however the laws here say nothing about half’s.

Personally I think there are still moral and genetic issues with half’s but it’s sort of a gray area even in places that have robust incest laws.
The age gap is much more an issue for me for several reasons such as lifespan, age of consent and it’s just creepy thinking someone was an adult when their partner was bore…but that’s just me.

@idealtoy i think it's less the genetic percentage that people are focuse on and more of the fact the guy who took the role of a parent ... ended up marrying her

replace the half aunt thing with her being an adopted cousin and it would still feel as wrong

After looking into it a bit further I agree.
Well…I understand the view. I totally get how that parent child relationship gets skewed for many with the apparent manga ending.

After checking it out more, I came to a realization that I think many have missed but I think I will need to actually finish the manga before coming to any conclusions. I finished the anime but I had no idea that the ending was alternate to the manga until I saw this thread.

@idealtoy you're better off pretending that the manga doesn't exist and that this is an original anime.

that's what A LOT of people do
