Should I watch this or the movie trilogy?

Well, the title says it all. Basically, I want to get into the franchise, but I'm wondering whether I should watch the original series or the recap movies first.

If you have the time to watch 43 eps then this. the tv series fleshes out the characters much more than the trilogy does. The trilogy does have minor changes to the story though. It does not have an english dub(not worth mentioning). the sound effects in the movies are also very different from what youd find in the tv series.

Sorry about the thread necro.

I'm new to Gundam and have actually made a start on the movie trilogy. Watched the first movie. Liked it but found it a bit frenetic. Some of the character development seemed a bit rushed. I'm wondering if I should stop there and start the TV series. I don't have a huge problem with sitting through 40 odd episodes if it's worth it. I'm a bit wary as I've read the movie improves over the series in certain ways. Thoughts please?
