Yes he is definitely smarter. He still has henchmen like most villians, even though he doesn't need them. He definitely likes to toy with people's emotions more than any other villian I can recall. I realized half way through Inuyasha that Naraku never even SAID what he wanted to do with the full corrupted jewel. Everyone just assumes he wanted to use it to become full demon. Everyone who hasn't finished the manga get ready for a retarded surprise that makes no sense regarding his REAL wish...
