I never saw the original version, was Nayuki's role more involved in it? I think the limitation of her being a cousin did mean she would be relegated to a side character as they headed towards the conclusion of the series. But, I did enjoy her as a character, she was very "real" compared to the rest.
Hmm... I just thought that something is slightly lacking in Nayuki's arc (is there really something lacking anyway?) but despite that, the essence of the anime was still not affected. ^^
Finished.... wow! It is not going to be easy to top Kanon. Ayu was tragic, but in the end I felt satisfied that most things were wrapped up satisfactorily. I did like Yuuichi's character though, he was a decent guy and to be surrounded by such wonderful girls made him even luckier. But, his heart was with Ayu and he stuck with her.
Bravo makers of Kanon. You made me bawl my eyes out again!
I was never really a fan of Makoto when she was a brat, but when things started going downhill for her I felt very sad, she did redeem herself, and now she is gone I kinda miss her. The "marriage" was a very tender moment, and the episode left me very weepy. Lucky Ayu is still there to make me smile.
Well, for the anime anyways. In any case, Kanon(2006) did do a good job following through her route, and in any case, it was my favourite in the VN as well.
Still, Makoto's route will leave you with goosebumps? What's that supposed to mean..
