i've been playing for quite some time now but only as a hobby (although I think I'm pretty good at it already). I've played a gig once but never got the chance get into a band vibe. Playing the bass is best if you're into a groove/funk style of playing (jazz also). no one would ever think the bass is way easier than a guitar. :) take my bassist heroes Stu Zender, Flea, the lovely Tal Wilkenfeld and Marcus Miller for example.

i've had quite similar experiences to that with my bass with people thinking bass is easier to play that guitar since it has less strings. people tend to be more bewildered by my bass too since its a 5 string. i can forgive Hotori though cause shes great though
