He was the captain of the volleyball club of Amemaru Middle School during his middle school years. He later graduated to Karasuno High and joined the volleyball club. He tried his hardest to practice all the time and would even stay behind everyone else just to get in a little more training. Kei looked up to Akiteru so much that when he was benched, he didn't have the courage to tell Kei.
