Heaven's Memo Pad & Unchained Blades

Here's one of my rare blogs that's too long for Twitter. I finished watching Heaven's Memo Pa, it has pretty animation, though not wow. The plot is episodic and nothing grand, but it is over all entertaining. My favorite character is definitely the Forth, he's the only one that really stands out to me. The main boy reminds me of the main boy from DRRR!! As for Alice, she's another detective like L, unmatched yet odd. Her cases are not as big as L's though and neither is her fame, but they are both peculiar detectives, though Alice has her own style with plushies and noodle-less ramen. I's only 12 episodes long so if you're in the mood for something somewhat entertaining with cute animation and more slice of life than anything else, have a look.

Got to Clunea's Temple in Unchained Blades. I'm pretty sure that's the final dungeon. My favorite characters are Fang, Lucius, Canhel and Mari.

Beware of Unchained Blades spoilers!

The whole Fang x Tiana hint? Saw it coming from a 10 miles away, but it was poorly done. I can see them working something out while throwing fire balls at each other, but sitting down to watch the stars? Totally out of character for both of them. Tiana realized Fang's true identity as the dragon emperor she had always admired, but the realization wasn't something that affected him much. A few chapters ago who acted clueless about the dynamics of males and females, a few less chapters ago he kind of seemed to be into Lapis. They could have worked things out with them forming an alliance after achieving a mutual respect, but the way they threw characterization away on that one scene sucked, the same conversation at a more character appropriate setting with a clear hint of the impatience that characterized both of them through the whole game would have been better.

What I hope for in the ending is a hint of closure. Not expecting it, but hoping for it. Hector and Mari seemed to have been left as is, which is okay. Lapis has faded into the background, which is too bad because despite her annoying over the top fan service, she was funny. The Phoenix clan dilemma was left hanging entirely and Lucius past along with Sylvie's role in it where left in secret. There's another chapter left so there's still time. I also still need to track down 2 more dragon kings. I have Echidna & Canhel so far. I've been watching series while playing so the game hasn't felt like it's taking that long, though the hour counts says otherwise as I've accumulated over 50. Plot wise, it's been amusing, yet it feels like it's too soon for it to end, probably because the characters spent the first 3 chapters split into 3 groups and it would have been nice to see them interact more.

Why was Windows 7 Starter made so evil? I think I finally got my coworker's laptop fixed at last. Ironically the most challenging part was changing the wallpaper. I had to do it from the registry. Why in the world would they not allow normal wallpaper changes on that OS?

Other than that I've been updating my site. I still have a few ideas for it, so more updates are to come. Coding and software repairs are not the same as pixeling so I've been doing all of that in silence, hence why I haven't listened to the new chapters yet and I have 4 stories bookmarked to listen to new chapters. I actually started on one, which I'm listening to right now. I also haven't seen a new Digimon Data Squad episode in 2 days. Aside from webdesign and repairs I've been playing Unchained Blades, as you might have noticed from my recent blog. I'm off tomorrow and the laptop is fixed, so that should give me time to listen to more chapters tomorrow and watch some episodes... and more Unchained Blades! I haven't been this amused with a game in a long time. I liked Final Fantasy IV and IX but I needed a variation from the FF style... though Nobuo Uematsu is still involved.

Unchained Blades

Unchained Blades

The story is simple enough. Reach the goddess' castle & you get a wish. What makes it interesting is the characters. Creatures in this world often start out with human bodies as "children" (though they look more like they're in their late teen or early twenties) & when they reach adulthood they grow into something more closely resembling their species. Fang is a dragon emperor, he reached the goddess Clunea & made her mad. She took away his power & turned him into his younger human-like self. Pissed off & thirsty for revenge Fang ventures to overcome the trials to reach Clunea again.

Joining him is Hector, a large metal golem prince who doesn't like his large metal body & fears the adult females of his species refusing to pick a golem girl to marry. Hector wants to have his past body back again.

Also on the team is white mage Lapis who is of the medusa. She doesn't have snake hair but her left eye petrifies those who look into it. She wants to wish away that power.

Between Lapis fussing about battles, Hector being a coward and Fang being full of himself it makes a lot of hilarious scenes. Lapis is full of unneeded fanservice but she's so funny I'll let it pass. But really Lapis, if you don't want guys looking at you because you're afraid to turn them to stone don't dress like that or are you trying to direct their eyes lower than your face? Gotta love Fang for not caring & simply taking note of her power. As for Hector he's a pedo... er I mean he likes those who are small & cute.

Mari, the plant girl, is the next to join. I don't know what her wish is yet. She's dull so far but I guess I'll give her time. She seems too much like a filler.

Competing for a wish of her own as a rival to Fang's team so far (though each person gets one wish anyway) is phoenix princess Tiana. She hates being a royal & would like to be free to show her tomboy attitude & adventure around. Her wish is to be reborn as a dragon.

First person dungeons, the ability to save anywhere any time & being about to capture monsters as "followers". Each "master" (main character) can have 4 that assist in battle. The charisma reminds me of Pokemon Yellow & the dungeons of Class of Heroes, but without the grinding. The exploring & quests are super fun too. I'll post some more on Twitter as I play some more.
