Anime Relations: Hametsu no Mars
The entire page is just littered with pop-up ads and the forum becomes impossible to read. Welp, guess I'm never gonna post again. Only gonna be here for list updates >_> What a difference a year makes.

Anime Relations: Tokumu Sentai Shinesman
I think I want to get back into anime this summer. This haitus has been depressing. I also have not been on site in years, perhaps I'll start posting on the forum again.

I guess I'm just feeling nostalgic.

Blatant Shinesman advertising. Best OVA

Yay me.

Goes to show how active I am not though, seeing how long it took me.

Perhaps I'll aim for 2,000 in 2014.

Anime Relations: Monster
Namely because I woke up late and today was going to be a half-day at school anyway, so I spent the rest of my morning and a few hours of the afternoon watching Monster.

It was quite the fun experience for someone who does not normally marathon.

So now I'm on episode 41, though I have not seen episodes 9-29 because my silly mother deleted them off the DVR before I could watch them. Sad face :(

Bye-bye MAL's old side panel

Though I'll probably get used to the new layout soon enough, you will always be in my heart.

A little late on this...

My parents never know what to get me for Christmas, but they always give me surprises. I never tell them what anime to get; I find more fun that way. This is what I got this year:

Rurouni Kenshin season 2 boxset
Outlaw Star boxset
Utawarerumono boxset
Samurai Champloo boxset
Sword of the Stranger (blu-ray)

I haven't touched Samurai Champloo or Rurouni Kenshin as of yet, though I've seen most of RK online anyhow. At the moment, I am switching between watching Outlaw Star and Utawarerumono. I watched Sword of the Stranger the day I got it, but I had already seen the torrent. It's nice to own it though. The following are my opinions.

Utawarerumono is decent enough with its storyline and characters, though the animation is bit lacking to me. It's still pleasant enough for me to watch without trouble, and since I have the DVDs I'm going to finish it anyway. As of now, I am on episode 10.

Outlaw Star is a very fun ride, and I like watching the dub over the sub. It has good action scenes for the 90s, and the humor plays well with the characters. I'm perhaps a little bias since I watched this as a kid and just reaping over Toonami nostalgia, but whatever. I love it so.

***

Sword of the Stranger is my first blu-ray anime (though I can only watch it on my PS3). Does that sound redundant, given that the movie is animated? No, there IS a difference in quality. I originally watched the movie via HD torrent, and the torrent seems lacking after watching the blu-ray. Granted, the speakers on my computer are crap compared to my surround sound stereo system, but I expected the picture quality to be the same. But I can tell you that there is a subtle increase in the blu-ray. The colors were a bit more vivid and less blurred. Sword of the Stranger was already a beautiful action anime, but blu-ray made it all the more better.

If you have the option of buying an anime in blu-ray, I highly recommend it. Just because it's animation doesn't mean the quality increase is limited.

Just saying, you know...

Thank you, Mom and Dad for buying me anime even though I'm a freeloader for Christmas. :)
