Renkurana | Jan 10, 2018 3:23 PM Club News The new year is here and that usually means new things right? Not for this club. I'm still working mostly solo as I've done all of 2017. Unless I get new staff members, ones that are actually 100% active, the same things will occur as usual. But almost everything is back up now. Stuff like Loyalty Cards, claims, past editions, w/e I shut down in December. Now that the holidays are winding down, not much reasons to go out other than the occasional hangouts and parties like birthdays and such. It is also 4 months before the club's 5th anniversary. There won't be much going on but there will be some stuff going on. Of course, everything will naturally depend on what happens IRL. But that's 4 months away. Expect less activities since I prefer to do other things first like games. Plus, it is my club so I get to decide my own schedule. Given the small amount of "active" staff we have, the idea was to keep it simple, small, yet entertaining. Even if you get it wrong, it's not necessary a bad thing. Of course, if you only cared about the cards, then we can't do anything about that. As for the Christmas Events, don't expect any much from it like other clubs. The theme in this club is simple and easy-going. If you want fancy, this isn't the right club to be in. With that said, there will be some things going on. There'll be some small things going on. However, we haven't decide whether or not the "main event" will also be small, or as "big" as the Halloween event. No, doors will not be involved this time but we'll do what we can to make it fun. Keep in mind that other than a deliverer helping me out, I'm basically the only one active in the club, hence why you shouldn't expect big things from the club. Since the main focus is on the Christmas/Winter events, you can be sure that there'll be decreased activities from myself and the other staff. Stuff like claims, past editions, etc, will not be open. And, it's not just because of Christmas events; my work schedule will become more heavy due to the holidays, which is expected. That'll be all for this newsletter. Here's a preview of what will come up: For September, we will have mystery cards. If you don't know what that is, then it'll be a mystery to you until it's opened. I haven't decided how many time it'll be opened (at least 1) as well as whether or not it'll continue beyond September. October features Halloween at the end of the month as usual. So that means Halloween-related events. The question is, what kind of event will it be? We could do another trick-or-treat like last year. Maybe go hunting for stuff like kids do with candies. November....most likely nothing. Thanksgiving is an American holiday but even then, the only thing that people do on that day is getting fat by eating a shit ton of food. Or drink and get a hangover. We may have something but that's to be decided during October. December, the month of Christmas and the start of the winter holiday. Should we be nice with the events? Or be naughty and have extra fun? Just a little warning though: w/e we decide to do, it won't be that easy. You members will have to do more than just post to get free stuff. Even if we're nice with the events, we won't be that nice. ------------------------------------------- I've re-opened the club discord for anybody interested: https://discord.gg/E996bx5 However, don't expect it to be as active as other discord servers. With plenty of things to deal with, I cannot be on discord all day. The same goes for the staff. The main purpose of discord is for those who want to have a convo and not wait for people to respond on MAL. Some people may want to have convos with us staff from time to time. However, whether we're on or not will depend on RL, just like everyone else. That said, if you need me for anything, tag me. If I don't respond within 15 minutes, then that means I'm busy and I'll respond back when I'm free. ------------------------------------------- I have a club suggestion thread here for those interested. There are 5 things you shouldn't bother suggesting, 4 of them I hear too much of. It's basically there to see if anybody has suggestions on how to get the club more active. Renkurana | Aug 11, 2017 9:03 PM Club News I will no longer be closing down this club next April as previously planned I've come to the realization that closing down the club next year will not only be an insult to myself, it's telling myself that I'm running away from the problem instead of dealing and beating the shit out of it. I know for a fact that deep down, I'll have plenty of resources and ideas to still run the club for all of 2018. If I have to reuse an idea over and over, then I'll do that. As the creator of the club, I can do w/e the fuck I want. If people don't like it, then that's too bad. It ain't about you; it's about me doing w/e I need to do to keep this club active for as long as I can. So, I plan to take this club into a new direction, giving it a renewed life. Of course, the question is, what will I be doing? I don't have an answer yet. I don't know what I'll do, but w/e it is, I can assure you that when the club anniversary hits again in April, it won't be in this current pathetic state. As for the staff, in the past NLs, I've been wanting to get new staff members. Now, I really don't give a shit about that. I ain't got a problem if I have to work alone for the rest of this club's life. I've been doing it for years so I can certainly keep at it for a couple more years. If anyone wants to still come and help, then by all means feel free to do so. Whether it's as a card maker, a deliverer, a game maker, or w/e, it doesn't matter to me. Any help I get is a positive, unless you decide to piss me off and start becoming an obstacle to get rid of. That will be my plan going forward. Doesn't matter to me which of you members wants to join me in my road to revitalize the club. All I know is, at the end of the day, the club is an extension of me. As for this NL, I'll keep it short this time compared to the others. --------------------------------------- If you requested in the Gothic Lolita edition, then you're aware of how many editions I'll be done on top of others. Therefore, I expect some of you to at least have some decency to keep the club active. Use the club comments more often, get the games more active, or w/e you think would help the club. Or hell, join the staff so you can really help the club out and get some benefits I get it, those of you that are interested in joining do not want to join as a Card Maker, Hell, some of you have expressed your interests in a non-Card Maker position before, Now, I have no problem opening up those positions. I haven't exactly figure out all the positions I may need. On the top of my head, a deliver, game maker/master, club moderator sounds nice. Maybe a discord moderator? Only if enough people are interested will I re-open the club discord. If you have an interest in any of those positions or any that I didn't list, send me a PM. For those interested in card making, it doesn't matter if you're inexperienced/new. As long as you're willing to help out and stay active, you're more than welcome to join. --------------------------------------- Now, is this a subtle message of me trying to get more staff members? Maybe, but it won't change anything if I'm working by myself for the rest of the year. I do question on why I don't get people applying. Is it because the club isn't as active? Or maybe there were people out there telling others to not apply because they say I'm some kind of tyrant leader. Gee, I didn't realize that making sure people are doing what they're supposed to be doing and being responsible makes me a bad leader. Oh well, w/e the reasons is, it probably won't matter much. --------------------------------------- Yeah yeah, I know I said that I planned to close down the club in April 2018 But, it can be 100% avoided if I can get some help when that time comes around. That remains the plan atm, unless I get some miracle working and I get plenty of help to the point I don't have to work as much yet still keep it active. That's why I haven't closed down the staff recruitment thread yet. Although considering what I wrote in the last NL, I doubt anyone would apply. Not that it matters though, since I've been a solo act for a long time now. Moving on from that, since I'm working by myself atm, despite what the number of staff members says on the club's main page, there won't be anything happening besides the usual stuff this summer. Hell, there might be stuff happening less despite on what happens IRL. Because of that, I don't expect anymore newsletter to be written till after summer. ------------------------------------ On a side note, I had a huge rant written on to be posted with this Newsletter. But I thought to myself, first off, most of you guys wouldn't be able to understand it. And second, it doesn't affect most of you but it does overshadow you good members. Maybe one day, I'll really say what goes on in my mind every time I visit the club. However, I will give a warning, if you can even considering it a warning. I plan to incorporate more of my RL personality. That means no more sugarcoating. If I something on my mind I really want to say (besides that rant), I will say it. That means being blunt and as much as needed. It's fun for me anyways. I will drop more profanity including F-bombs and S-bombs. All of you guys are old enough to handle it. If I do things that you guys don't like, then oh well. Not my problem. I will become more sarcastic and roast people if I can. But it's all just for fun, no harm intended. But if you are a jerk/douche to me, be prepared to get hit with a barrage of insults. I'll throw sexual innuendos whenever possible although I'll only do it to those that can handle it. Granted, it is a lot harder to do on the internet but hell, I can make it happen. But in spite of all of that, that's just half of my personality. The other half is what you see right now. I can be helpful, I can be generous. I'm the party of my group IRL, where I make things more fun. Got a problem you're dealing with? I'll be more than happy to help you out as much as I can. ------------------------------------ So what's the whole point of all of this? It may be my last year with this club. So I figured, why not show members who I really am? I don't get to talk to people much on MAL. Honestly, it'd be nice to get some convos going. Renkurana | May 8, 2017 12:40 AM Written by me (Renkurana) Club News On April 2, 2018, 5 years after opening, I will be closing down Myouren Temple. So about 11 months from now. This is a decision I've been thinking about since January. As some of you have seen, almost all of the stuff done in the club is done by me nowadays. There's a limit of how much I can do and right now, I'm reaching that limit. But it's more than just that. The club has been running longer than I originally planned. My intention when I created this club with Kuroyu was 2,3 years and then do something else. A lot of things happened in the past 4 years so far. Lots of good things, lots of bad things. I've made great friends, I've made some enemies, I've done things I love. I've done things I regret. My passion for card making has been flipping like a switch. My leadership in the club isn't the best, sometimes thinking that my way is better. My immaturity sometimes kicks in, resulting in bad consequences. Under all of that, there is one constant: my goal to keep the club active and alive for as long as possible. Next year, when the club hits 5 years of existence, I can finally say that that goal has been achieved. However, it does come with a price. I've lost contact with some of my best staff members. Former staff members may see me as a bad leader. Members may see me as unapproachable in terms of social. I've lost sleep, free time, resources, etc. I've made a good amount of bad decisions I wish I could do-over. In the end though, I'm more than satisfied with how the club has turned out throughout the years. This club has a good amount of stuff that makes us who we are as a club, such as our Collection series. And then there's things like Past Editions, Custom Cards, Loyalty Cards, a variety of editions and claims even though we started out as a Touhou & Youkai club. Hell, the Staff Card Competition was a fun thing to do. Hell, we might be the only club to change our OMC and OMB twice in one year c: There are some things I do wish things went differently. Club activity would be the main thing. Even during the early days of the club, we've always had problems getting members to be active that doesn't include editions and games. Most of the club comments were us staff talking or opening things. I also wished we could've done more events. While we did have some, we definitely had the ability to do more. Despite all this unfortunate news, the club will still run as normal, I'll still continue to do my things like the Kantai series, editions, etc, with or without a staff. A friend has told me why not get new staff member so that I can keep the club running. I can't force anyone to apply and even if I do get new ones, with the amount of stuff I've been doing since 2013, I don't know if I have the energy to keep on doing what I do after 5 years of running this club. So yeah, this news won't be good for some of you members, especially long-time ones. But, I do request everyone to visit the club as much as they can. Even if there's no activities anywhere else in the club, if I see people posting in threads such as card editions, it works for me. I guess, the only thing left to say is: less than 11 months to go. Renkurana | Mar 11, 2017 1:52 AM Club News Not much to report this month for this newsletter. Next month in April, it'll be our club anniversary month. Unfortunately, there won't be much going on besides the usual. As much as I want to do some stuff for it, I don't have the free time. I can't spare anymore than I have atm due to life and other activities. However, I do plan to do another collection, Kantai Collection. It'll function similarly to the Touhou one, with a difference or two. I've only recently decided to do this as the previous one went pretty good. I did consider Idolmaster before this but that's too much work to categorize. I haven't decided exactly how to categorized them, probably by battleship types. The collection will start on April 1st and naturally, on my time (PST). Extra/Missed and badges are not confirmed and will be a last minute decision. ----------------------------------------- Other news that I have is, w/e you see right now is pretty much the same for future months. If the club gets more active staff members, then naturally there'll be a lot more things going on. But for now, drop by once in a while if you can. I'll do as much as I can to keep the club going. Hopefully ( ･ω･)ﾉ Recently, we've opened up the 'Birthday Thread for the club. If you like a little customization as we usually do, we have it there. Just make sure you follow the rules to make everything easy. As for Claims news, I'm still stuck on the Christmas template. As much as I prefer the simple route, I prefer to put more effort into it. Unfortunately, no Valentine's claim as planned due to my struggles above. However, I do plan to open up a Male and Female Character Claim next month. It should bring some variety to the club although I don't think the Touhou and Youkai will be opened due to it. 4 claims is way too much for me to do. Other than that, club activity is still the same. Can't really push my staff to get stuff done due to life. But I hope the members that are actively visiting the club continue to do so. Renkurana | Jan 15, 2017 4:47 PM Club News Hope everyone is having a great year so far. In this newsletter, there's not much news from us atm. However, we are planning to implement a Birthday system. I suppose it's like any other birthday threads you see around. We're estimating to open next month depending on what goes on. -------------------------- As for other news, those active in the club have notice that the club activity is lower than usual. Unfortunately, all of us are still dealing with our own things so we can't spare as much free time as we used to. Don't know when that will change. We don't have much planned out for the next 2 months other than club editions and my usual Touhou editions, maybe a claim or two. For February, we'll have a Valentine's Day claim next month. Those that requested in the Christmas claim, expected delivery will be sometime around the end of the month, give or take a week. -------------------------- Last,, to share a bit of story to everyone interested: I have thought of closing down the club towards the end of 2016. This is due to lack of interest and free time with the club. But I've decided to keep it running for all of 2017, reasons undisclosed. Unfortunately, we can't say how active we'll be, especially with a small staff. Would it be nice to get more staff members? Naturally. But that's outside of my control atm, especially when school season and other stuff are in session. If anybody's interested, the staff recruitment thread is always open. Again, the club will stay open for all of 2017 and I'll make a decision about the club's future from there. We also have the club anniversary coming in April. Renkurana | Oct 31, 2016 4:38 AM Club News Not much to say for November in terms of club activity. Thanksgiving's only a US holiday so we won't do anything for it. However, we are currently discussing Christmas/Winter events. Just like Halloween, we'll have a special claim and custom card for it. Beyond that, our events won't be finalized until late next month. ------------------------ Staff Recruitment: while it's something we actually don't need, it helps me and my active staff be able to relax more and maybe there's some people that are genuinely interested in helping out. The only positions we have atm is Card Maker and Claim Maker. We don't do deliveries much in the club other than myself. Games, most ideas we have got shot down quickly so we're skipping that. Other positions, I have no idea what else is there that other clubs uses. However, I'm always open for discussion on these kind of positions. Send me a reply or PM and I'll see what I can do. For Card and Claim Maker, there are no requirements to apply. Doesn't matter if you're a newbie or experienced Card Maker. We welcome all levels of Card Making because we're not picky about card quality. However, there is a requirement for joining the staff: being active. It doesn't help me or any of the staff when people starts becoming less active. I prefer people to not join for a couple weeks, and then go inactive because of RL. I'll make an announcement when it opens. Don't know if anybody out there is interested but we're leaving the door open for those who are interested. Renkurana | Oct 6, 2016 8:29 PM Club News As most of you can see, our activity isn't as active as it used to be However, I myself will do w/e I can despite my RL schedule. This month feature Halloween at the end of the month. Therefore, we will be having a special Halloween claim and custom card. Currently, the Custom Card is open with the Claim to be open soon. Remember, all pictures must be Halloween-related. We won't be doing this for Thanksgiving due to......some obstacles, but you can definitely look forward to a Christmas version in December. ----------------------------------- Staff Recruitment: for anybody interested, we'll have openings at the end of the year. I notified my staff that I'll be doing a staff clean-up. This is to see who's unable to help. I would like to have more active staff members, as my RL schedule might not cooperate with me during the holidays, hence why I'm doing this annual........staff event. Renkurana | Aug 22, 2016 1:47 AM Club News This week, some stuff will be happening: Loyalty Cards I believe most of the things are finalized, except for the rewards. Feel free to visit the thread to read up on it. The rewards, I'll figure it that out soon. But I can give a preview: Choices will be involved in choosing your rewards. Custom Cards Most of you probably know what this will be about. Hopefully. Visit this thread for information about it if needed. The opening times will vary from 3-7 days, depending on what I need to take care of. This will occur continuously until I can't do it anymore. So it'll be for a long time. Club Activity This issue again. Well, school season has started, can't do much about that. Staff activity, I don't know what's going on at this point but doesn't matter. I've decided to go a one-man team for the time being. Not the first time. So expect a lot more things from me being done for the time being. However, any of you members that does want to help out, it'd be highly appreciated. Club comments, games, etc. Props to you if you're already doing it. Some people have suggested new staff members, but that may not work. I've gotten a couple new staff members since the anniversary back in April. And well.....as you can see, more staff members may not work out. However, if you do want to help out despite the closed recruitment thread, you're more than welcome to talk to me about it. Some (or most) of the staff members will be dealing with school themselves. So what does this mean for club activity? Less club activity. We all know the importance of school and other RL situations. I myself will still be around, as some of the staff members from time to time. Of course, any of you members that can help us out by being active also helps. The usual stuff as always. Will the club comments be active this time? We shall see. However, there may be some new stuff going on, like new claims. I may start a new collection whenever I figure what I want to do. And of course, we'll always have card editions available. I also want to mention that, if you haven't noticed, our staff recruitment is closed. Normally, we have it open 24/7 (at least for those that remember) but the reason why it's closed is to keep a staff roster. Makes it easier for everyone to get to know each other. However, if you're interested in joining, I'm always open for discussion. Basically, this newsletter is to inform all of you that the club will be decreasing in activity once people are back in school. At least here in the US. Maybe :3 Discussion Threads We'll be giving this a try and see how it goes. Basically, we're opening threads based on various topics and we want both members and staff to join in on the conversation. We'll open some topics and those that wants a certain topic to open are more than welcome to ask for them. It can be anything you want to talk about. While we're not trying to be the one of the most active clubs, since we're a relaxed club, we would like the club to be more active besides our games, cards and claims. Given that our multiple tries to keep the club comments active has failed, the discussion threads are something we're doing to see if it fares any better. We'll start off with 2 topics: Touhou and Anime. We'll add more over time. It's a known fact that I love Touhou and some people may want to know more/talk about it. The anime thread will focus on each season, focusing on what people think about certain anime as well as what you're hoping for the upcoming season and any other stuff you want to talk about. Will this discussion thread idea be a success? Who knows, but it sure as hell doesn't hurt to try. Staff Card Competition Those of you that have seen this before in the past may know about this. Simply put, our staff will "compete" against each other based on a certain theme. Unlike most competitions, this is just for fun, a friendly competition. For you members, you'll help us by voting on who you think is the best. It'll work just like a regular card edition, but you must vote to get cards. Maybe we'll throw in a prize or two if the staff competition goes well. The date of the staff competition will be on the last week of June. So what happens to our activity during May? We shall see. 2 new collection series, Hetalia and Pandora Hearts, have opened. However, they function differently from my Touhou Collection so pay attention to the rules. We may have more in the future. When will they appear? That's for my staff to decide. Renkurana | Mar 6, 2016 6:10 PM Written by Renkurana Club Anniversary Less than one month to go till our club's 3rd anniversary. We have couple of stuff planned out and ready to be finalized. Here's some of the stuff we'll be doing during the anniversary: Member Card Edition Participation (tentative name) In this event, members will create cards based on the chosen theme. If it becomes successful, we'll be doing it more and more, possibly monthly. The very first theme in April will be: Vocaloid For those interested, all you do is: 1) Create cards based on the theme and don't forget to set your limits. There are 3 categories for requesters: Members, Staff, Participants 2) Turn them into me and I'll upload it to the thread 3) Request cards as usual. Participants gets first priority on requesting. You'll have the opportunity to request a day before it opens as a participant benefit. Basically, it's just like any other card editions, but with you members joining in on the fun, if you choose to do so. Note: VIP badges cannot be used. ------------------- Touhou Collection For those of you that are keeping up with the Magi version, it's just like that. The difference is that, 1) there's much more to collect and 2) badges are involved Starting in April 1, the Touhou Collection will be open and occur everyday. This will last until somewhere around.....late July. A thread will be open towards the end of March for more details about it. However, as a NL subscriber, you get to see this info ahead of time: There are 111 cards across 17 different categories. Well, they're almost all games really. ------------------- Various Event Games We're still working out on the details for this since it's a big project for us. Multiple event games will be done for this one but we can't say much about it yet. We ourselves find it fun to play though so we hope you'll think so too. We may have more stuff during the month, depending on what happens between now and April, and whether we're able to do it or not. All of these and more will be occurring throughout the anniversary month in April. So be sure to visit the club as much as possible. ------------------- New Club Year = Fresh New Look We'll be having a whole new club layout, as well as new member cards and badges. New games will be introduced and maybe a new staff roster? Simply put, we're gonna renovate the club to ring in the new year. Speaking of a new staff roster, if you're interested, you're more than welcome to join. Recruitment is always open and the thread is here. The only requirement is that you do your best to help out the club. Although the available position atm is Card/Claim Maker, the other positions are always open for discussion. Just PM me on your interest c: Other than that, we'll be hard at work in giving the club an updated look. We'll also have a weekly trivia & video of the week on the club layout starting in April. Since we started out as a Touhou/Youkai club, it'll center around them. However, we'll also branch out to other topics based on the reception of the weekly features. ------------------- Upcoming Club Editions None For this month, we're prepping for the club anniversary so all editions that will occur, it'll be solo editions either by me or by my staff members. However, for April editions, it'll center around Touhou & Youkai. Those editions are yet to be determined, Us staff will be discussing them soon. Even if you're not a fan of both, we encourage you to drop by. ------------------- Touhou Character Guide For those interested and/or unfamiliar with the Touhou series, I'm writing up a character guide to introduce each characters found in the Touhou universe. This'll only feature basic information about them. If you're interested in learning about more, each character will contain a link to their profile on the Touhou wiki. Basically, it's a starting point for those who want to be interested in certain character(s), as well as learn more about them, especially when I'll be doing more future Touhou editions.
