Head

Hair
Rin has long dark grey hair, not quite black but fairly close to in some pics. The real form of Extra Rin is blonde, but no one cares about Extra. It's not long enough to cover her butt, giving it an ideal length. It's also a bit wavy, which I find quite nice. The most noteworthy trait of her hair, of course, is her twintails. Rin might have been one of the lead causes for the "tsunderes have twintails" belief. They're good twintails too; she ties them up with black ribbons, are fairly long and mix well with her hair. Yes, Rin has the beautiful twintails + long flowing hair combination! She is occasionally shown with her hair down and looks great as well. Her bangs are the kind that spread to the sides and leave the middle part uncovered, no "big middle bang" for her. As a child her hairstyle is the same except she doesn't have twintails and long hair, just twintails. As an adult her hair is always down and looks a bit wilder and sexier. All in all Rin's hair is amazing and one of her many great traits!

Eyes
Hooray, blue eyes again. Or aqua, says the Wiki. That said I don't mind much since the art style is quite nice. No matter the version Rin's eyes are always nice. She also has a great tsurime that firsts her personality well. On top of that there is the BEST thing about Rin: She wears glasses occasionally and they are RED, THICK, MOSTLY FULL-FRAMED GLASSES! Not only they are beautiful but they go perfectly with her hair and clothes, and not too badly with her eyes. They single-handedly make her eyes score better, that's how good they are. Sadly in Prisma Illya they're once shown breaking, but it's merely a sight gag to show shock and they're fine in the next panel/scene anyway.

Body

Build
Not too bad. As a teen Rin's height is 159 cm which is above my idea but not enough to matter, weights 47 kg which is about normal, and her measurements are B77/W57/H80 which isn't too bad, her chest is on the modest side and her hips are also larger than it! Fate/Extra Rin has her 5 cm more on chest with no change to her hips, but Extra is extra stupid so move on. Her legs and lower body usually look nice in both the game and the anime official art and she has a flat stomach. While not top tier Rin has a nice body!

Butt
While Rin has the occasional buttshot, it's not that great generally. The only exception is in Prisma Illya as there her ass is better. Her butt does look nice in the game too, but nothing stellar. Her measurements help too, a little. Why the score then? Because in the game she FACESITS Shirou, of course! Fine, it's a 69 technically speaking, but who the hell cares, her butt is resting on someone's face and that's all I need. She almost gives him a regular facesitting in a throwaway Illya gag, too! She also has doggystyle for bonus point.

Clothes
Rin wears some nice clothes. Her default uniform single-handedly got me into the franchise, it's just that good. It's a red turtleneck sweater with a white cross on the chest area, a black miniskirt and matching thighhighs. It may not sound like much, but it has my favorite color, my favorite two-color combination, and some nice absolute territory that allows her to get the infamous S-Rank! Not the ranks ever made much sense, but ranks rarely do. Her school uniform is a white shirt with a light brown vest, a Spanish Flag ribbon, and a long black skirt; she improves it with PANTYHOSE. She also has some occasional dresses, but mostly in spin-offs like the standard red bikini in Carnival Phantasm or the red maid dress in Prisma Illya; these do come from official artwork tho. The funniest may be her Kaleido Ruby costume from Ataraxia, though it technically belongs to an alternate Rin. It's a magical girl dress with frills and detached sleeves and thighhigh boots and cat ears and a lot of silly cute things. She wears it on Prisma Illya too.

The reason Rin scores so well, however, is the fact there is an entire book of just illustrations of her in many cosplays! Besides all the ones I already said she also has a grey jacket with miniskirt and thighhighs which might or might not be her winter uniform, a white frilly dress with thighhighs and garter belt PLUS she wears her glasses, a purple bikini for a change, naked apron but sadly from the front, a black shirt and red tie for a rocker look, black kimono, her yellow pajamas, gym uniform with a RED buruma and she has this in Prisma Illya specials too, sukumizu, tennis uniform, kendo uniform so she gets all sweaty and smelly, and just a shirt! There are some more costumes in other works, included her cute uniform and some cute yukata both for her loli self or her nice adult clothes, but by this point you get the idea Rin's clothing is awesome. Girls in red look best!

Mind

Personality
Rin is the current house head of the Tohsaka family, one of the families that started the Holy Grail War and that provided Fuyuki City as a battleground due to the immense magic power in the area. Rin was born with amazing magic prowess, being able to control all five elements, and is skilled particularly in the area of extracting and transferring magic. When she heard about the kidnapped children by Uryuu and Caster she tried to save them, only achieving so in the anime and either way her adventure ended with her scared but unharmed. Sadly not everything went as well in her life, since this is an Urobuchi novel and this man hates happiness. To be exact her father Tokiomi, who entered in the Fourth HGW with Archer, died at the hands of his disciple Kirei Kotomine, and the shock made Rin's mother go insane. Rin then became the head of the Tohsaka family and was raised by Kotomine himself, who wasted a lot of the Tohsaka fortune so Rin wouldn't grown into a spoiled brat that indulges into horrific genetic experimentation to make everything dollar symbol-shaped.

Ten years later she entered the Fifth HGW, somewhat ironically drawing an Archer class Servant herself. She wanted Saber instead, perhaps for yuri reasons or to be able to counterattack most enemies in Enemy Phase. All three routes begin with her and Archer fighting Lancer off until protagonist Shirou shows up with Saber to save the day. In Fate route she mostly acts like a mentor and support to Shirou. In Heaven's Feel the focus is on Sakura being her younger sister and Rin not daring to kill her despite Sakura causing terrible things due to her Dark Side, but at the end the sisters make up. Unlimited Blade Works is the Rin route and therefore it involves her far more than the rest. Basically she first attacks main character Shirou, but they make a truce to fight off Rider, and this ends leading to a chain of disgraces which mostly involve losing either allies OR potential allies, as well as the conflict of Archer trying to kill Shidou to teach him ideals aren't everything, presumably as Archer came from the future and thus knew Highschool DxD would get a third season which made him lose all faith in humanity. At the end Saber is Servant to Rin and either the two live a normal life with Shirou or he goes with Rin to London to fight vampires. No, you won't see a game about vampire hunting. In the Fate and UBW routes Rin comes back 10 years later with others for the purpose of abolishing the Holy Grail Wars, thus putting an end to this madness. Or not, since Rin is the one that ruins the space-time continuum in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Rin is also important in several of the spin-offs, like Carnival Phantasm that exaggerates her tsundere-ness and clumsiness with machines for comedy or Prisma Illya where she's Illya's mentor and her love for Shirou and rivalry with Luvia are exaggerated instead. Fate/Extra also has a Rin, but the less said about this game, the better.

Rin grew with the admiration of her peers, both as a kid and as a teen, as she is also considered an idol among students. That is only a façade however, as the real Rin is more the bossy and teasing type. She’s a good person at heart however, and cares very much for those close to her. She believes herself to not be cute and feminine enough, which is part of she wears those amazing clothes. She’s also the kind to make quick decisions, but at the end she always relies in logic, and has the family trait of making mistakes at the worst times. Rin’s hobby is polishing jewels, such as the ones that are part of her spells. Speaking of, as said above Rin is a very talented mage and her main fighting ability is a spell named Gandr that is basically a finger beam crossed over with Magic Missile. She spams it a lot. She also can throw jewels infused with her magical power. She is strong enough 4 took off one of Berserker’s lives and made him repeat the stage. These gems are real costly however; thankfully she is still crazy rich thanks to the benefits of the magical patents her ancestors did. In addition to these she also owns the Azoth Sword, a magic booster, and the Jeweled Sword of Zelretch, capable of shooting magical beams with the power of technobabble, or magibabble I guess. Besides this, in Hollow Ataraxia and Prisma Illya she can also become Kaleido-Ruby the magical girl, and in the latter she’s actually rather kickass when she does so. She can also reinforce her body to run 100 meters in less than 7 seconds, tho Mutenroushi and his 5.5 seconds have her beat, and she knows pseudo-Karate. Long short story Rin is a very interesting and awesome character, no wonder she’s only second to Saber in popularity!
Grade: A-

Libido
Rin is a tsundere and has as such problems showing her feelings. Thankfully she’s yet another good tsundere meaning she doesn’t hurt Shirou, except trying to kill him at first in UBW because they’re enemies in the Holy Grail Wars which doesn’t count. She can also take the initiative occasionally, at least to “warm up” Saber because yuri fans are people too. While I don’t know the exact writing of the H-scenes, but given this is Nasu that might be a good thing, I know she engages in some nice postures like cowgirl and doggystyle, as well as the aforementioned 69 with her on top. She also has missionary, but bleh. In Prisma Illya she’s a tad more forward with her advancements on Shirou, but they’re mostly offscreen or shown as throwaway gags. Rin is another good show of how being tsundere doesn’t mean being a jerk to a male love interest, even if she loves teasing Shirou, so people should pay attention!

Pretty sure Rin is in the second year of high school, so 16-17 and average score. Been a while since things were that simple! Her younger and older versions don't appear often enough to count for this, though the younger looks really good for her supposed age. Her birthday is February 3rd, with the Extra one being born in February 4th to make clear they are not exactly the same person.

Voice
Kana Ueda is a VA that I like and does a really good job for Rin in every iteration, be it her serious original series one, her silly Prisma Illya one, or even her cute loli Zero one. Sadly despite Kana Ueda being from Kansai Rin speaks normally, but no big deal.
