Anime Relations: Sakamichi no Apollon
There's always a bittersweet feeling once the end of a season comes nearer. There's shows you wish weren't ending, shows you know will get another season, and shows you can't wait to disappear. Then, there are the shows you know won't return, but wish with everything you have could.

For me that season, the show is Sakamichi no Apollon. I'm equally in love with the Lupin the III prequel, but there are other Lupin series I haven't gotten around to watching, so the end of that feels much less final. I fell head over heels for the show in the first episode. As a musician who plays flute and piano, both instruments in classical and in jazz, I could tell this show called to me. From the beginning, it was obvious the show was extremely well animated. It was gorgeous and I believed I could never see anything more beautiful in my life. The animation of the show is seamless, and I fell in love with it hard.

The main reason was obviously the music. Kaoru struggled with jazz at the beginning, and I completely appreciated the realism in the series. Jazz is something people grow in to and learn slowly. Sakamichi no Apollon is perfect in showing that jazz isn't something that's easy to master. There's a swing to it difficult to grasp when you originally play classical.

Gorgeous animation, glorious voice acting, music that's once in a dozen years. The series was beautiful, easy to connect to, and I'm sad to see it go.
