Both movies deal with love, parenthood and the reshaping of worlds The protagonists, Shinji and Ayato, become averse to piloting due to the devastating consequences of their actions and have parents that want them to use their ability for just that (Shinji's father Gendoh and Ayato's mother Maya). Both are are caught between allegiances (Shinji between NERV and Wille, Ayato between the Mulians and TERRA).

These films are reconstructions of the TV series deconstructed with the only difference is that Awakening of the Trailblazer is a proper sequel while Pluralitas Concentio is a recap of the entire series. I can't help but compare to the writing and the music from start to end after watching these two.

Love stories that take place in a mecha setting, involving a dangerous species of human with blue blood. Both draw heavy inspiration from Neon Genesis Evangelion but are not as bleak.

Beside the genre similarities, both movies are about mecha wars against aliens, complex love plots and power of the entertaining culture (music, art of painting vs.) finally they are successful spin-offs of the original series. Last main comparison is usage of music in the movies. RahXephon uses the music in a more decent way (a real  read more

Rahxephon is an better Evangelionesque ( rip-off) than my recent recomm. Both have the alter the world theme and weird stuff happens and both have quite high production values, back in 2006 when i saw the Rahxpheon movie i thought it was like another modern popanime movie with little meaning , well i was wrong i mean look at the fanbase today from back then , still holds up somehow.

Mecha, Romance and two strong protagonists, what's not to like? The signature Gundam series shares many themes with RahXephon but can fall a bit more on the "technical side" of robots rather than its romance. However, it's a great watch despite its age.

Two love stories involving alternative worlds and giant robots. I also found that both had very moving scores and similar pacing. Both are movies based off of anime.
