Both shows are about a talking animal god with white fur forming a bond with a young and innocent human. Both series explore the relationship of this unlikely pair and how the presence of the animal god in the human's life helps them to make friends, overcome social anxiety. Both shows are immensely heartwarming and filled with kindhearted protagonists who do the best by everyone. Animal lovers will enjoy both shows for the many cute and fluffy animals the main character befriends.

Onmyou Taisenki and Lucario of the Mystery of Mew are both among the best of the best in the Monster Fighting genre of anime. If you enjoyed the deeper emotional conflicts about the bond between a human and their talking animal companion in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Onmyou Taisenki is a must watch. Over the course of 52 episodes this show develops an unbreakable bond between its talking animal (the white tiger Kogenta) and his human friend Riku. Onmyou Taisenki is one of the best Pokemon/Digimon style anime out there because its characters are some of the deepest and most likable in its  read more

These two shows are very similar, the only difference is that Onmyou Taisenki is about ancient Japanese mythology.

They are both about the bonds between the human and they're monster partner. And in both shows the human characters are able to control how their monster fights by using commands (Onmyou Taisenki: the protagonist traces symbols in specific combinations to initiate an attack) or they a connect spiritually to the monster and can control what attack they use with their mind? and body. (Dragon Drive: an example is the scene where Reiji, the protagonist, points his arm out, while riding on senkokura, to aim where senkokura needs to shoot with his shin saber).

1. Both involve Japanese mythological creatures 2. On first few episodes, both anime may seem like just battling each other without any reason or just defeating the opponent, but later they become much and much clearer and eventually not being cliche 3. Both are niche shounen anime which need more and more love, they're epic apparently, you shouldn't underestimate it at all

Both animes talk about Onmyou-do and develop a plot out of it.

Both have the same sort idea of one "monster" accompanying the boy, and the boy has a device that "keeps" the monster when not needed. (though different from Pokemon) If you like anime that have that sort of monster idea, you'll like Onmyou Taisenki.

Both feature fighting with the summoned friendly creatures visible only to certain people (spirits in SK and shikigami in OT).

I dont know but when i was watching this anime it suddenly reminded me of this. It may be because it has something to do with being the head of a clan. In Kyou Kara Maou! yuri is the King of the Mazoku whilst in Onmyou tai senki Riku is the head of the Ten-Ryuu.

Both series that have children with devices that can call forth creatures to fight other creatures, but something that keeps Onmyou Tai Senki different from Digimon is the effect of losing a monster has on it's child.
