Both very similar anime. They both are martial art themed/inspired and both heavily focus on largely important fighting tournaments. Both also have a fair amount of blood. Both have great art styles and character designs.

Shigurui is a samurai anime which shares many similar characteristics with Baki. Both stories are a sort of build up to an ultimate end fight; Yujiro in Baki and irako in Shigurui. Unfortunately both anime do not complete the story to conclude the end fight, to which you will have to read the manga to conclude. Art for both are very similar in my opinion, especially in the manga. The art styles for both mangaka are really similar and not just in the character styles but also the graphic violence. However the animation for shigurui is much better and a joy to watch if you appreciate  read more

Brutal tournament fighting without weapons. Variety of martial arts used and also explained during fights which is quite interesting. Doctors capable of resurrecting the dead and fighters with feats far greater than those of normal humans. Fighters making comebacks in fights despite all odds etc etc. Both shows even have a doctor participating in the tournament. Protagonist who wants to become stronger. Very similar shows. Kengan has more of a story line but I enjoyed the fights in Baki a bit more. (This season of Baki has the worst OP I have ever seen btw.)

Both martial arts shonen anime that follow the top level of martial artists that far surpasses your average professional fighters, fighters who grapple to be "the worlds strongest". They both have great animation, awesome art styles and character designs. The main characters of both series follow descendants from esteemed families in these upper circle fighting worlds.

where as angelic layer is more on the cutesy side of things both of these shows have a turnament in which the main character must win or overcome. the stories are really good but with the longer shows the characters just have to keep fighting in more turnaments.

Sort of similiar, Baki is more graphic with it's violence. This is kind of a cheap version of Baki.

Both involve the main character fighting to become the strongest in a fighting competition. Many have wondered what the outcome would be in a fight between Hanma Baki and Aikawa Maki.
