Historical figures are revived into the present to create an idol group. Complete with a strategist as the manager. Also, both series has a crazy and zany plot that is diverges from traditional idol anime.

Both music anime with a focus on DJ/singing
report Recommended by izuleo
Both feature characters that come together to face tribulations of the music scene. The performances are mainly sung in English (with some exceptions) and both have similar ensemble of characters that support each other in their rise to stardom in the social media age. The showcase of song genres from both shows range from contemporary Pop, Indies, R&B, EDM and Rap; performed by famous singers and performers from around the world (and Youtube space). Carole & Tuesday have a Sci-Fi take; whereas Ya Boy Kongming is more of a Reverse Isekai / Tensei genre.

Both anime involve the music industry and the reincarnation of individuals. "Oshi no Ko" is dramatic, while Paripi Koumei is more comedic.

Entertainment industry setting and comment on issues about the industry. In particular, both series feature a rival group whose freedom and self are restricted by their management/talent agency.

Both focus around a boy who is helping the female lead who is aspiring in the career she is in to try and succeed no matter what kind of obstacles that gets in the characters way.

Charismatic leaders and great tactical stragies based on Chinese military history. Difference being that Paripi Koumei takes it into modern world while Kingdom stays historical.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Both work as comic-slice relief, where their protagonists somehow leave behind their past linked to death, one for being a yakuza and the other for having been a war general, to bring a happier and more supportive present to the new characters that they will meet.

- female characters trying their best to make it in the music industry - peak into the underground live music scene in Japan - both have comedic and inspirational moments - Similar animation style - Great original music

Both are shows about music have have historical figures from the past being reincarnated/transported to modern day Japan
report Recommended by Calabre006
In both titles, the main theme is music. They also touch on other similar topics, such as growing up, writer's block, stage fright, and the insides of the music industry.

Both about a girl like to sing, and want people to listen their songs

Although these shows have completely different genres and forms of comedy, they both achieve goals and character developments relating to finding success starting from the bottom. Kongming is similar to Seiya in being strategists and leaders for the rest of the cast in helping to encourage them to be themselves and follow their dreams. Without spoiling the end goal of both seasons, they have to reach a certain level of talent, growth, and popularity through holding crucial events that are the culmination of all of the efforts put into the entire season beforehand. TLDR: - Utilizes comedy to supplement drama and character development and growth - Have an end  read more

this is a comedy music anime. i find it personally amazing how they solve the problems in a comical and fun way I didn't expect. next to that the music used in these animes are bangers and will be in my playlist for my lifetime.

Songs. Vivy, the main character is a songstress just like Eiko. Vivy's songs are just as impactful as Eiko's as they help drive the narrative just like Paripi Koumei. Highly recommend

They are done by the same studio of P.A. Works with a 12-year difference in when they're produced. Satoki Iida is a sound director for both series as well, hence some similarities in the OST and vibe from background music. Both series integrate music and performance into the plot and characters while touching on reincarnation from a previous life. In Angel Beats, all characters are in the middle ground of being reincarnated while Paripi Koumei has Kongming reincarnated within the first episode. Producing music is a passion for characters in both series, although in Angel Beats this applies to only a couple of characters for  read more

I see hints of Konosuba and Hi Score Girl no doubt but how about a Ya Boy Kongming recommendation since the uncle is removed from his time in a similar isekai fashion like the legendary military tactician from historic China
report Recommended by NonAtmospheric
Both have a male lead that is unusual for the setting that meets the female lead and joins the story.

Both stories: A story about a girl who aspires to be a star aided by a skilled co-star through supernatural means.

While SHINEPOST doesn't include a wild time-travel premise like Paripi Koumei (AKA Ya Boy Kongming), both series focus on the way the music industry and idol culture impact young artists. Nanami in Paripi Koumei and the girls in SHINEPOST have a lot in common. Managers with special, nigh supernatural skills are also featured in both series. Both titles also have similar positive vibes and well-written drama populated by loveable characters, all brought to life with stellar animation and great music. The series share the same DNA, even if SHINEPOST isn't quite as high-concept as Paripi Koumei. If you don't like idol/music shows, both of these series rise  read more

Both anime has a protagonist that is overworked and wants to live life freely, to their fullest, and just vibe. Kongming died of overwork and reincarnated to a peaceful life in Tokyo, helping a future singer live her dreams. Now, he is vibing and living life to the fullest while using his experiences and stratagems from the past to ensure Eiko becomes popular. Akira nearly died of overwork but when a zombie apocalypse hit Tokyo, he realized he is free and started vibing while also helping out survivors along the way. He resigned from his job after this.

historical figures from ancient times enjoying mundanity of modern japan, while referencing legendary episodes from their previous lives in all sorts of comedic contexts. both are very lighthearted and enjoyable.
report Recommended by sillyfang
Both are literally the same concept. Just from the first episode, I was already feeling nostalgic for one of the most popular childhood series for many people, Hikaru no Go, in which both animes explore the concept of an ancient historical being not belonging to the contemporary era, (Zhuge Liang & Fujiwara no Sai) being transported to modern Japan, to aid the protagonist to fulfill their respective dream of being the very best in their pursuit (being the greatest Go player/pop singer).

Character from historical setting suddenly appears in modern day Japan, rocks it to music.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Takes place in Modern-Day Tokyo and features an aspiring solo idol similar to Eiko Seems music-based or just making it big in the entertainment/music industry
report Recommended by Azukano
Similar concept; ancient empire character transported to modern day Japan for the sake of strange new hobby. In one anime it's about bath-houses and another it's about party music.

Strangely similar vibe of pushing the boundaries of possible with precious friends and finally changing your life when you have enough self-esteem and enough trust. Both shows bring so much positive mood and supercharge you with energy to look at life and believe: YOU CAN DO IT!

Holds the same theme as an artist trying to find their own way to produce their form of art. While Ya Boy, Kongming explores this with Eiko, Blue Period also does this for its protagonist with art and painting.

Similar stories where musicians try to make it big. We follow them along their journey to fame. If you enjoy music you will enjoy the other one as well.

Our protagonist, with the help of someone, try to gather as many people as possible in their performance in clubs or something similar. DJ for Agetarou, singer for Eiko. EDM is really present in both animes.
report Recommended by NormandyTM
Listen, I know this sounds crazy. They seem like they have nothing in common. But in both anime, an old man from foregone war-torn era meets good folk and leverages their wit and wisdom to help the people they meet resolve their flaws and reach their goals, while they reflect on and move on from their own past.
report Recommended by Fishingtons
Both have people from the past get transported to the modern Japan. Paripi Koumei is about Kongming getting reincarnated in the modern Japan, while Ryuukyuu Timeline 2 is about Satto getting transported to modern Japan for a short period of time.
report Recommended by EsieEyen
Both have flashy visuals,an upbeat Shibuya setting and also fashionable characters and lots of catchy music as well too and both having cool old dudes who wins everyones hearts.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Heck of a reach i know lol, but aside from the obvious being both having young blonde leads and assisted by a older spirtual like being for their goals and of course the friends they make along the way and catchy music too.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
I can't quite put to words how exactly these a similar, the brand of humor, the colourful animation and charming characters mixed with the brilliant sense of strategy just give off very similar vibes, albeit the themes of the shows themselves couldn't be much different ofc, excluding the reincarnation trope that is
