Showcase of absolutely stunning high quality dream-like animation. Althrough made by different people, the arstyle feels similar.

Both are short anime that are more of a beautiful pieces of art with amazing artstyle and animation with every frame being pleasant to look at.

First of all - they both share a similar artstyle, which is very unique to both. Second, both share a very similar atmosphere and has the theme of fanatsy in a world that is pretty much similar ot ours, with a lot of moments that just feel magical. If you liked one, you should definetly watch the other (though I think the Manga of Kiajuu no Kodomo is better, but the adaptation is also amazing).

Abstract. Where the art only lives on connotations. Past the irregularities, distortions, and unearthliness, both Puparia and Aki no Puzzle are abstract pieces of works that are so intrinsic, that they may or may not mean anything. But that is for you to decipher what you can. Take the two as a task or what is to know and is not to know.

Abstract. "Action speak louder than words" as they say, although Puparia does this to the extreme so much so that there are literally no words in vocals or characters, Road to You isn't far off with the mute characters too but has song vocals. Puparia also has surreal art though compared to the illogical abstract in Road to You. Both are good shorts, Road to You does this with one ad in its collection of three compared to Puparia entirety.

An artistic piece. Where the story is as commendable as the literal presentation to respect. Puparia and Mug are not only such yet they are actually respectable art pieces. Would recommend both if you want something that has an elaborate fashion to be proud to flaunt about.

Rather than similar details, Puparia and Pendulum tell a heartfelt story utilising their world at hand, when telling the story. Puparia does this through an atypical setting filled with a chilling and odd behaviour, Pendulum uses a literal pendulum to tell the story. Pushing their themes with quite clever ideas, they create interesting narratives based on their themes they push onto the audience. Both are good short anime that are each under 5 mins.

These are shorts composed of purely hand-drawn animation done by a single person, and ends up being spectacularly beautiful and somewhat disturbing. If you love independent animation, watch both of these.

Both are beautiful short animations with nice music, despite Puparia not being specifically a music video.

Messages. Although the two are far off from what they give storywise. They both have underlying messages to them which can be found the deeper you look into them. Although you could say this for any two anime, I found these two more relatable because of the art style is given, Puparia looks like an embellished version of Ghibli's style, with both anime still having that elegant tribal type art. In any case, looking over the two, ideas like the symbolism of human nature, and political ideologies like imperialism become visible with the required analysis. The type of anime that requires something along the lines of  read more

Short anime that are foremost a showcase of gorgeous and colorful art with a really nice to look at arstyle. Watch them if you're in the mood to take a gander at something artsy.

Short animations without a dialogue or any obvious storyline that are more of a showcase of animation skill and are pleasant to look at.

Weird concept blended to music, deep themes that are implied but not explained, and a extreme sense of melancholy and confusion that is paired with it. Plus top tier animation for both, and both are short-form! How can you say no?

If you are curious about how beautiful and unique short anime can really be, then these two are exactly the thing that you're looking for. Be it for different reasons. Puparia is a little shorter, but it has a lot of breathtaking visuals and a unique atmosphere, that manages to be both beautiful...and yet creepy at the same time. And at least one of the visuals in it will stick in your mind for a long while. Wonder is longer and a lot more abstract, plus it was done by one person in a single year. It feels a lot more playful, with cheery music in the  read more

Arthouse. Whatever you may gain from these two titles, titles of which, fall in the category of exemplary performances of the arthouse style, depend on you, the interpreter. Though one thing is certain. Works Puparia and Cat Soup may not be the most logically consistent thing the medium has to offer (as expected), but instead, expel an obtuse number of ideas, themes, and connotations for you to reflect on. Take what you will from it, but expect something "clever" from these trippy avant-garde works.

Both our abstract horror shorts. I love both of them, because while they are abstract, the short never devolves into random eye bleeding scenes, and they don't give too much away to make themselves boring.

Deep. Other Worlds and Puparia both feel like deep stories that use their atmosphere correctly to improve their storytelling. Other Worlds binary image world tells a story of romance, whilst Puparia "dementia" atmosphere aspects give a perplexing tale. Both are very good short anime, only taking less than 5 min to watch each in total.
